Show I last Rites Held for George Bittle Saturday S George Dewey Bittle, ,.born Sept. 28, 1899 in J.-Uherton, Mo., died of a 1 heart attack on Feb. 27 Jin Allen Memorial Hos- Vtal. J He was the 5th child born of 8 children to James and Rosa Bittle, and attended school in the town of his birth. During his childhood the family moved from Missouri to Loma, Co. George married mar-ried Opal Payne in 1920, and they had 4 sons. The family lived in Fruitvale, 'V'l'Co., until Opal's death in n"'l941. on In 1944 the family mov-7 mov-7 ed to Palisade, Co. George met Sylvia Mc- Nair and they came to iBi'Moab to be married July c" 22, 1946. In October of that year the family of 4 J boys and Sylvia's 2 girls moved to Moab. George had for many T7!j years a desire to build a ' ' trucking business, and he op found his opportunity y ' here. While he was busy building his truck line, .... he became active in an Ull occupation well known to . him since childhood, that 45 of farming. During the Uranium Boom in the early 1950's many changes were seen, and there materialized many new hauling opportunities. oppor-tunities. During the peak years of the uranium era George built his goal into a reality. He sold his business and retired in 1968. George became a mason ma-son in 1958, and was a member of LaSal Lodge No. 30 F. and A.M. He was a member of Valiant Chapter No. 21, Order of the Eastern Star, and of the Community Baptist Bap-tist Church. He is survived by his widow, Sylvia, sons, George, Jr., Alamogordo, N.M.., James, Jerry and Danny, all Salt Lake City; daughters, Mrs. Homer (Louise) Adamson, Caldwell, Cald-well, Idaho; Mrs. Carl (Nora) Wilson, Nampa, Id. Mrs. Charles (Shirley) Armstrong, Pinedale, Wyo., and Mrs. John (Charlotte) Johnson, Monticello, Ut.; 2 brothers, broth-ers, Price and Boyd, Loma, Lo-ma, Co.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Goff, Grand Junction, Junc-tion, Co.; 25 grandchildren, grandchild-ren, 3 great-grandchildren, and an abundance of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held March l.atthe Community Com-munity Baptist Church, Rev. Emil M. Balla presiding. pre-siding. Pallbearers were K. E. McDougald, W. D. McDougald, Ed Williams, Rodney Dalton, Bill Chapman Chap-man and Max Cooley. Interment In-terment was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, with masonic graveside service. ser-vice. Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Home. m The family requested that donations be made for cardiac equipment at Allen Memorial Hospital in lieu of flowers. |
