Show Auto Theft Charges Face New York Man A New York man is in the Grand County jail with automobile auto-mobile theft charges against him from both Colorado and Utah. He is Brewster William Phillips, 23, St. James, Long Island, New York. According to investigation reports Phillips Phil-lips stole a 1971 Ford pickup in Fruita, Colo., about 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4. He drove the truck to Crescent Junction, where it was abandoned, and took a 1975 Dodge pickup belonging to Duane Wimmer, which was parked at the west side of Crescent Junction Service. Ron Pene and Holene Welch, who were working at the station, noticed the pickup going west over the hill, and Ron got in his car and went after it. An alert was put out and Highway Patrol Trooper Gary Gunrud joined the chase. Towards Fremont Junction Pene and Gunrud were met by a patrol unit from Richfield, and Phillips in the Dodge pickup was stopped. Trooper Gunrud brought him back to Crescent Junction, where he was turned over to Sheriff W. H. Bowman. |
