Red Ribbon week helps remind the students not to do drugs, drink, or use violence. The students had a blast with all the activities we had. The activities included drawings everyday to get cool prizes and the grand prize on Friday was an Olympic fleece vest. The. winner of that prize was Brian Orgill- of the 5th grade. Also there was a carnival that the students enjoyed a lot. There were lots of games and prizes. Mrs. Jaussi would like to thank Officer Pace. Mrs. Milaina Brady from the health the High School department, Governors Youth Council and the PTA mothers for all the wonderful help with the carnival and all the other activities. There was a door decorating contest that the students had lots of fun with. There were lots of fun and creative doors. One of the last activities we had was the Red Ribbon Pledge. The students pledged that they would never commit violence, drinking, and never to do drugs. Then they put their hands in paint and put them on paper to say they pledged. We had lots of fuii last week, and we hope no one will ever to doing drugs, commit them-selvviolence, and drinking. 6. FFA Chapter receives National Chapter Award: Amy Blackburn and Kimberly Robinson received the award. - FFA members at Kentucky I lone Park: I leath Gi van, Terry Distort, Kimberly Robinson, Cooper Willoughby, Jenna Keyes, Amy Blackburn, Marvin Downard and Tiffany Clegg. Members Attend National FFA Convention FFA N.S. FFA Reporter: Amy Blackburn FFA made it real for eight FFA memhets, as they traveled back to National Convention. Tiffany Clegg. Robinson. Amy Kimberly Blackburn. Jenna Keyes, Heath Givan. Terry Diston. Marvin Downard. and Cixipcr Willoughby traveled to Louisville. KY, for the 74th National FFA Convention. When they arrived, they sat down and decided on a schedule for the week. On Wednesday the members woke up and loaded the shuttle bus to head to Churchill Dow ns, where they hold the Kentucky Derby. The horses were being exercised while we were there. We got the opportunity to w atch them. We also got time to hxrk around the museum. it was really great to see the history of the race horses. The members then traveled to 'he Kentucky Horse Park. Once there they were free to see w hat ever they wanted. They have over 40 breeds of horses there. The members were able to watch a video of horses. It w as really nice to just be able to see the things you want and not have to go all over. They also had demon strations with horses and with their sheep dogs. All in all it was a good day. The members then went to Reflections and had a scare with the weather. There was a tornado watch,' the members were asked to evacuate part of the building and to sit on the flixtr. It was scary, but gives us something to talk about. Thursday was a great day. The members were up early and went to the convention. They spent most of their time at the Career Show talking to representatives for over 3.500 different companies and colleges. They also went to a session and heard an awesofne speech from Dick Vitale a sports analyst. I le told how you can never give up no matter how hard it may get. The members then met with Rhctt es Lauhach. a motivational speaker to go to dinner. Rhctt came to Coalville and spoke to the student body last March, he also spoke at the State H:A Convention. The members had a great time with him. They then went to the Jessica Andrews and Montgomery Gentry concert. They had a gixxi time. Friday and Saturday were big days for the chapter. On Friday. Amy Blackburn and Kimberly Rohinson walked across the stage to reccixc the National Chapter Award. Ninth Summit received a two slar rating which is awesome. The highest xuu can get is a three star. The Noitli Summit FTA Chapter is one of the best in the nation. Then on Satuiday Terry Diston. Marvin iXiwnard. and C ixipcr Willoughby received their American FFA Degrees. Bradley J.
