Show Thursday, September 27, 2007 SPRINGVILLE HERALD Pfi MMENT Springville needs new library Editor: The Springville Library is extremely congested and noisy due to lack of space. This should not be a surprise because its size is about 13 that recommended recommend-ed by library professionals. profession-als. It can no longer serve the citizens of Springville optimally. Many aspects of library usage have increased greatly from 2002 to 2006. (Actual data are in the report re-port of the Library Advisory Advi-sory Committee presented to the City Council on September Sep-tember 18.) Examples of library use in 2006 are about 320 programs, pro-grams, 9000 attendees at them and 240,000 visits. vis-its. The most astounding number for me is almost 400,000 circulation in 2006. Due to lack of space for children's programs many children were turned away. We do not want to treat our children in this way. In addition the results of about 400 returned surveys sur-veys showed that 70 to 92 of respondents wanted want-ed more space for adults and children, more programs, pro-grams, comfortable places The Springville Herafd Customer Service 375-5103 48565f fa 488-7021 239E.400& SpringvBfe, Utah 84663 cow (raigContmr o1dfyavpro.com Poge ffedgnad bywrf BordaKar . Clearly the library is over-crowded and needs much more space. Springville Spring-ville citizens love their library li-brary and deserve a much larger one The Springville City Building Concept Plan from the City Council places plac-es the new library at the corner of Center and Main streets. The Library Advisory Ad-visory Committee recom House Ere a Editor: We were born and raised in Springville, left for a while and then moved back to spend the rest of our days in the home town we love so much. We built our dream home in Hobble Creek Canyon-a place we loved as children, young adults and now as older folks. Subsequently, we have met some of the greatest families on earth. One 6f those families is the Ben and Kelli Peay family. Every Ev-ery Thanksgiving Ben and Kelli and their, children chil-dren Jaci, Wesli, Pini and Hanslee bring every family fam-ily in the neighborhood a turkey. We all get calls on our birthdays from the Peays. They not only call but they all sing to us. On holidays the door bell rings and on the porch will be a batch of homemade cookies with no one in sight on the porch. We all know who brought them--the Peay family. If they hear you might be sick or having a problem, they are the first at your door to see how they can help. There is no one that has done more for their neighbors; neigh-bors; and neighborhood than pen and Kelli Peay. They are bringing up their four 'children to do the same. You have to know i it, ill Sage Creek students elected their 2007-2008 student council Friday afternoon after a week of campaigning and a pre-voting assembly. All 12 student council members must have completed service hours, written an essay, and submitted a financial budget before being eligible to be elected. The student council is in charge of various school activities throughout the year setting a positive example to fellow students, maintaining high grades, and working with the teachers and administration. Congratulations you crazy 6th graders! ... ' 0 Horizon ..... This number is based on the anticipated population of Springville and follows the 1 sq. ft. per inhabitant rec- ommended by prof essional library associations. I hope all Springville citizens will support bonding for a new library in November 2008 or possibly sooner. Jim Weber Springville tagedy for all concerned them to love them. Apparently Appar-ently there is someone out there that has not had the privilege of meeting the Peays. Now that we have set you up, here is the rest of the story. On Monday morning at 3:45 a.m. some ugly, inhumane, unthinking, unthink-ing, sick person or persons torched their beautiful new home which they were two weeks away from moving into. These monsters must have been upset over the placement of the home and decided the only way to deal with it was to get rid of it. Little did they know that they almost burned down the entire canyon. They could have taken the lives of hundreds of people and their homes by this one selfish act. They didn't know that Ben had ordered 150 trees and shrubs to be placed around the home so the home would not have been seen from Kelley's Grove. The trees were to be delivered and planted this week. Been and Kelli had many plans to improve the park. They 'always give much more than they get. We are thankful for the golf eourse employee who comes to work on the greens in the wee hours of the morning and noticed r" A 96 E.
