Exhibi-tion. Though the Art Ball is indeed in-deed a fund-raising benefit for the museum, having a fun and successful evening is also important. Pat Conover, longtime volunteer and art board representative, says that those at the museum consider the Art Ball a "big city party" and an excuse to celebrate and have a good time together. As established in the beginning, one way to achieve this objective was to create new and various themes for the ball each year. Originality, taste, quality and relevance are the most important factors that go into the selection of each theme. With the first being a Parisian theme, to later themes of the Renaissance, Outer Space, the Orient, Starry Night, Latino Fiestas and a construction theme that accommodated the museums mu-seums renovation, the Art Ball is meant to explore variety vari-ety and invite creativity. Behind the success of each Art Ball is a lot of hard work and a great number of dedicated dedi-cated volunteers and donors. Each year the event requires many different committees to get things going. There are committees for the food, decorations, ticketing and invitations, in-vitations, donations, publicity publici-ty and other areas. Though the means were a bit more humble in the beginning, the same level of organization and commitment was needed. Though the themes are now more modern, and a sense of professionalism resonates over the whole production, as in the very beginning, the goal and purpose of the ball remains the same.
