The girls had their weekly practice, then followed it up with a delicious delici-ous pot-luck luncheon, which was served to approximately fifteen girls. DINNER GIVEN ON BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bird entertained enter-tained at a dinner at their home Tuesday evening complimenting Mrs. Bird's sister, Mrs. Barbara Hatch, on the occasion of her birthday. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanford, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brinton of San Francisco, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Heath, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Hatch, and Glen Sanford. NEIGHBORS GIVE . FAREWELL PARTY A group of more than thirty neighbors and friends of Mrs. Anne Stuart tendered her a farewell fare-well party at the home of Mrs. Alice Davis last Wednesday evening. eve-ning. The ladies enjoyed a reading by Mrs. Mae Huntington taken from a chapter in the book, "Mother Mason;" Mrs. Ella Reynolds responded re-sponded to a request by reciting several lovely poems on "Friendship," "Friend-ship," and Mrs. Ellen Erdmann presented Mrs. Stuart with a lovely love-ly gift from the ladies and read a composition which was a lovely tribute to the guest of honor. Mrs. Stuart with her husband, R. S. Stuart, will leave soon for Los Angeles, Calif., to make their home near their daughter and two sons. The pleasant evening ended with serving of delicious refreshments and farewell greetings. Mrs. Stuart Stu-art has been active in L D S church work here for many years and will be greatly missed by her many friends and associates. Miss Helen Clark of this city, recently returned from St. George where she joined her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Miller and son Jimmie of California. Califor-nia. Cran-dall. CLASSIC 4-H CLUB GIVES PARTY The Classic 4-H Club girls met at the home of Vera Wilmott on August 29, in the form of a surprise sur-prise party for Rae Ann Boyer. Games and lunch were enjoyed by fourteen girls. The club also held a regular meeting that day' at the home of Geraldine Earley. Lessons were reviewed by the leaders, Delores Childs and Mary Boyer and lunch was served. FIDELITY CLUB AT NO-HOSTESS PARTY i Fidelity club members enjoyed a no-hostess party on Friday at the home of Mrs., Faye Cranmer. Each member brought a gift and these were exchanged during the evening. Also Mrs. Cranmer was presented with a birthday gift. A tasty lunch was served during dur-ing the meeting and the " next meeting announced for Friday, September 13, at 8 p. m., to be at the home of Mrs. Florence Boyer. A symbol is worthless unless you know what it stands for. The nuptial ceremony will take place in the Salt Lake temple, September Sep-tember 19, followad by a reception recep-tion in the Joseph Smith ballroom. The prospective bride is a graduate grad-uate of the Provo high school and attended the BYU for two years. She is affiliated with the Beta Sigma Phi. The groom-to-be, a graduate of Springville high school, also attended at-tended the university, where after serving with the army air corps for 36 months, he is continuing his studies. RETIRING R. S. BOARD MEMBERS HONORED Complimenting Mrs. Lucille Erickson and Mrs. Jennie Brown, who are retiring from the Relief Society board, and also to welcome wel-come Mrs. Mary Weight, newly sustained chorister and Mrs. Mamie Warner, organist, the board gave a lawn party on Thursday at the home of Mrs. Alta Adams. At small tables, games were played during the evening under direction of Mrs. Mary Weight. Later a tasty luncheon was served, serv-ed, with Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Helen Thorpe in charge. Each of the two retiring officers were presented pre-sented with a lovely gift in appreciation ap-preciation of their services. Attending the party were the following board members, . JAYCEE WIVES CONDUCT REGULAR MEETING The first regular meeting of ': the Jaycee Wives this fall sejason was held at Valley Tavern under ! direction of Mrs. Don Rigby and her color group including, Mrs. Helen Bird, Mrs. Lois J. Child, Mrs. Anna Ostlund, Dr. Mary King and Mrs. Edna Thorpe. The group enjoyed two dance numbers by Joan and Jean Aver-' ett, accompanied by Dorothy Cranmer. F. S. Slaugh gave an interesting talk on his experiences in the Far East. During a short business meeting meet-ing the resignation of Mrs. Ralph' Child as president, was accepted, and Mrs. Bill Ostlund, vice-president, was installed as president with Mrs. Taylor Burt made vice-president; vice-president; Mrs. Kay Johnson, 2-year 2-year director. Other officers are: Mrs. Lee Miner, secretary-treasurer; Mrs. Mary Carnesecca, Dr. Mary King, Mrs. Ernest Boyer, immediate past president, are one-year directors.
