Phillips V Mr. and Mrs. Gomer Phillips Wed 62 Years; Family Dinner Marks Event g Longest married of anyone in Springville and one of the longest wed in the county, Mr. and Mrs. Gomer W. Phillips, Well known residents res-idents of Springville observed their 62nd wedding anniversary Tuesday. While Mrs. Phillips is not well enough for a party, members of the family got together for a family fam-ily dinner honoring their parents at Phillip's home in the evening. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Wells Robinson of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Phillips, Theo and Ernest Phillips of Springville. Another An-other daughter Mrs. Ruth Lamb-son Lamb-son of Helper and a son Theo were unable to attend. Mr. Phillips celebrated his 85th , . i birthday on January 10, while Mrs. Phillips was 84 last September 6. They have lived in Springville most of their lives, experiencing the hardships and inconveniences of early settlement days. Mr. Phillips followed the occupation oc-cupation of blacksmith many years his early shop having been enlarged en-larged and modernized into the present Phillips Garage, which is operated by his sons. Mr. Phillips still does a little work however and enjoys being with the boys while they work. Born in Spanish Fork, Mrs. Phillips Phil-lips came to Springville as a young girl employed in a local mil-inary mil-inary shop and it was at this time (Continued on page two) Mr. and Mrs. Gomer Phillips Celebrate Wedding (Continued from Page One) that she met and married Mr. Phillips. The couple are parents of ten sons and daughters with seven living. They also have 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. |
