Show MARTHA THORN SERVICES HELD Numerous friends and relatives paid tributes of respect to Mrs. Martha Eleanor Thorn, at funeral services held Wednesday in the Fourth ward chapel. Mrs. Thorn died Sunday of complications resulting re-sulting from a fall nine weeks before. be-fore. She had been confined to her ; bed since the fall and had suffered suf-fered extreme pain from the injury. in-jury. Burial was in the Evergreen Ever-green cemetery. She was born April 7, 1857, in Springville, a daughter of Edward and Nancy Ballinger Hall. She spent most of her life in this community com-munity and during her early life devoted much time to nursing throughout the vicinity. She was a faithful member of the church and had always been active in Relief society work. She was a member of the presidency in the first Relief society organization at Maplcton. For Many years she was a Relief ; society teacher. She was married to Richard Thorn, December 6, 1S74. Mr. Thorn died November 20, 1898, leaving Mrs-. Thorn with a large family to support. Ten sons and daughters survive, sur-vive, as follows: R. Othell Thorn and Mrs. Dora Hanson, Benjamin; A. Newton Thorn, Spring Canyon; Mrs. Mattie PaUreyman,, Jasper H., Adelberl G. and' Orland Thorn, Springville; Mrs. Ida Bissell, Beaver; Mrs. Hattie Lucas, Spanish Span-ish Fork; Ivan Thorn, Provo; 38 grandchildren and" 39 great-grandchildren. |
