Show Services held Saturday for Mrs. May B. Bird Funeral services were held Saturday in the First-Twelfth ward for Mrs. Mary (May) Bryan Bry-an Bird, 82, who passed away Wednesday night, following a three-weeks illness. Ray Clark - of the Twelfth ward bishopric, was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed direct-ed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mrs. Bird was born Feb. 14, 1881, in Springville, a daughter of John and Emma Noakes Bryan. She married William Arthur Bird in 1897 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Mr. Bird died Dec. 25, 1943. Mrs. Bird had made her home in Springville all her life with the exception of several years she resided in Salt Lake City, where she worked in the LDS Temple. An active member of the LDS Church, she had served as a teacher in the Sunday School, Relief Society, and Primary She was president of the religion reli-gion class when it was first organized; or-ganized; filled a stake mission in the Kolob Stake, and served in the Relief Society presidency of the 17th Ward while in Salt Lake City. A former captain of Camp Kolob Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Pio-neers, Mrs. Bird had also been a member of the Black Hawk and Old Folks committees. Surviving are six sons and three daughters, Mrs. William H. (Manila) Brown, Mrs. Gene (Clara) Averett, Arvil, Lloyd, Lewis, Russon and Dean Bird, all of Springville; Mrs. Floyd (Thelma) Harmer, Payson, and Bryan Bird, Midvale; 38 grandchildren; grand-children; 43 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kennedy, Springville and Mrs. Arch (Beama) Combs, North Platte, Neb. |
