Show Short Illness Fatal to Springville Man Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Monday afternoon at the Berg Drawing Room chapel, cha-pel, Provo, for Hyrum Ray Roberts, Ro-berts, 71, resident of Springville Spring-ville for the past four years, who died Thursday evening of last week at the Utah Valley Hospital, of a short illness. His hofe was at 270 North Second West. Burial was in the Spanish Fork City cemetery. Mr. Roberts was born in Lehi, Feb. 15, 1887, a son of Hyrum and Julia Ashton Roberts. Ro-berts. He received his education educa-tion in Lehi schools and on June 3, 1918, married Mary Ann Crump Hansen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Provo and later moved to Eureka Eur-eka where Mr. Roberts worked work-ed for the Knight Interest Mining Min-ing Co., until 1920, when they moved to Thistle, where he worked for the D&RG until 1926. They then moved to Payson where he . was employed by Orem Railroad Shop. In 1928 he moved to Provo and worked 1 I II Mr. Roberts for the Old Timber and Coal Co., and later the Geneva Steel Plant. In 1954, he retired and moved to Springville where he since resided. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen. His hobbies hob-bies were hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, six sons .and daughters: Halda Ray "(Bill) Roberts, Orem; Max E. Hansen, Provo; Blaine Roberts, Downey, Calif.; Mrs. Norman i (Mae) Read, Ridgecrest, Calif.; Mrs. Mahew (LaRae) Orton, Nephi; Mrs. Lawrence (Na-Dean) (Na-Dean) Gee, Springville; 22 grandchildren,' six great-grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, sis-ters, Leon Roberts, Provo; Dar-i rell Roberts, Salt Lake City ; Mrs. Pete Holden, Payson; Mrs. Ronald N. Allan, Springville; Mrs. Leo Skinner, Bingham and Mrs. Joseph Soter, Salt Lake City. |
