Show D.U.P. OBSERVES SPRINGVILLE'S 96TH BIRTHDAY Program Held At Relic Hall Features Talk By Mayor; Social Held Daughters of Utah Pioneers Pio-neers organizations of Springville Spring-ville and Mapleton entertained enter-tained at a community program pro-gram last Wednesday afternoon commemorating the birthday of Springville. The program was conducted con-ducted at Relic Hall with a large group of D. U. P. members and other citizens attending. The program, under direction of Mrs. Florence Boyer, president of the local D. U. P. organization, included an opening song "Springville," "Spring-ville," composed by Mrs. Clara Boyer, followed by prayer by Mrs. Sarah Dalton. There was a vocal duet by Mrs. Nell Condie and Mrs. Afton Pal-freyman, Pal-freyman, accompanied by Mrs. Arvella Robbins. Marilyn Roy-lance Roy-lance gave a reading and members mem-bers of the Camp Spring Creek in pioneer costume, entertained with pioneer songs. Mayor Glen W. Sumsion gave an interesting address on the early settlement of the city. His talk was' followed by a double trio from Camp Aaron Johnson. Mrs. Ella Reynolds entertained with a reading and Mrs. Hilda Cherring-ton, Cherring-ton, Springville, Utah county D. U. P. president, gave an instructive instruc-tive talk on D. U. P. work. The program closed with a prayer by Mrs. Amy Donaldson of Camp Aaron Johnson. After the exercises, the group enjoyed the remainder of the afternoon aft-ernoon with a box lunch and social. ' |
