Show D.U.P Sponsors Community Program Commemorating City's Birthday September 18 Several Trees Planted By Early Settlers To Be Dedicated And Marked For Preservation As Landmarks Extensive plans are being made by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of Springville to entertain the people peo-ple of this community with a program commemorating commemorat-ing the ninety-first anniversary of the settlement of the town on September 18th. The program is scheduled to begin be-gin at 2:30 p. m. at the city park, weather permitting, or in the Relic hall at the city park. It will feature fea-ture a principal speaker and several sev-eral musical numbers in addition to other forms of entertainment. Several county D. U. P. and perhaps per-haps state officials will attend. At the close of the community program, under the direction of the various camp captains, several trees considered pioneer landmarks inasmuch as they were planted by some of the earliest settlers, will be dedicated and marked for preservation. pre-servation. ' The various D. U. P. groups will assemble at the tree sites where as much of the program as possible pos-sible will be given by members of the family responsible for the planting of the tree. Camp Kolob, under the direction of Captain Emma Beardall, has chosen to mark the large tree in front of the high school art building; build-ing; Camp Springville, with Captain Cap-tain Beth Barrett in charge, will mark a tree on Fourth North street; Camp Aaron Johnson, directed di-rected by Captain Josie Alleman, Mil dedicate a tree in front of the Amasa Haymond residence on 85 "'est Second South street, while Camp Hobble Creek, in charge of Captain Anna Beardall, has chosen mark two trees, one in front of we Sabina Alleman residence on South Main street, and another ' in front of the Jacob Felix residence Sixth South and Fourth East street. The bronze markers are being sured from the county camp by we respective camps of the city y the tree marking is a project undertaken by the D. U. P. groups.
