The Salem Hills Skyhawk Marching Band competed in their final competition for the 2008 season on Friday, Oct. 25. They traveled to St. George and performed at the second annual Red Rocks Tournament. It was hosted by Dixie State College, and bands from all across the West performed. The Sky- hawks marched early in the morning, and then watched other bands while waiting with anticipation for the awards ceremony. Around 10:45 p.m. representatives from each high school made their way onto the football field to receive awards for their respective bands. After much hard work and diligence this season, the Salem Hills Marching Band took fourth place in the 1A Division. It was an award well-earned and an excellent way to conclude their exceptionally successful season. Preparations for the 2009 marching band have already begun, and expectations are high. All the students, faculty, and parents that helped create the Skyhawk marching band this year have begun a tradition of excellence at Salem Hills High that will hopefully last for generations to come.
