Show ^chools Covering what matters most WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2007 • B3 SFHS announces students of the month for November Spanish Fork High School administrators, faculty, and students honor November's Students of the Month. Geoffrey N. Swenson Senior Geoffrey N. Swenson is the son of Gary and Hanalee Swenson. He has worked hard to earn his Eagle Scout Award. For his project he collected books and donations for the UBCT classroom library. This year, Geoffrey is in Men's Chorus and Social Dance, and he looks forward to participating in all of the performances. Art classes are his favorite. He said, "I love to draw and enjoy all types of painting." Geoffrey is very good at video games and loves all kinds. When asked about his future plans, he said, "I want to graduate from high school and continue my education. I would like to be an animatpr for video games or run my own Game Crazy store". The Talking Heads is one of Geoffrey's favorite musical groups. He said, "I especially like "Wild, Wild Life" from the movie Open Season." Geoffrey's favorite foods are hamburgers, pizza and ice cream. His favorite sport is soccer, and he loves watching BYU teams play anything. Geoffrey describes himself as always being happy, having a positive attitude, and he always tries to be a good friend. He loves going to school. He said, "I have enjoyed all of my teachers. Each one has helped inspire me to do my best and reach my goals." Mrs. Perkins said, "Geoffrey is an amazing student, he has a great art talent. He is kind and hard working. He is a joy to have in my class. He is the kind of, student that makes teachers look forward to coming to work. The world is definitely a better place with Geoffrey in it." Natesa Stephens Senior Natesa Stephens is the daughter of Derek and Corrine Stephens. She is an energetic person who enjoys spending time with her friends, having a good time, and staying active. She has a number of musical talents which include playing the viola, the piano and singing. Natesa loves science, and said, "I particularly love Biology because I love learning about living things and what makes them act the way they do". Natesa is very involved at SFHS. She plays in the orchestra, is a member of the National Honors Society, participant in the district science fair, and a FCCLA member. She is also a member of the Utah Valley Children's Choir. Natesa loves food, and said, "I don't think I could live without it!" Some of her other favorite things include playing soccer and basketball, watching old Disney movies, and watching football. Her favorite books are Tuck Everlasting and The Chocolate War. When asked about what makes her unique, Natesa said, "I was adopted from Calcutta, India, when I was 14 months old, I have a collection of 72 elephants, and I've been to 48 states." Dons' Early Light Mary Anne Hillier Students were asked to write about a career they were interested in pursuing and how education would help them reach their career goals. In the essay, students were also asked to write about a community leader that would have some connection to that career. Students wrote about nursing, engineering, business, and others. Several Salt Lake City leaders were asked to participate in this project so students could actually meet people who had excelled in their professional areas. Mallory Denning, a senior at Spanish Fork High School, was one of the essay contest' winners. She is interested in working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was able to-spend lunch on Nov. 9 with Salt Lake City Chief of Police, Chris Burbank and discuss with him what he has done to be successful in his profession. Mallory also won a $1,000 scholarship. The essay contest was sponsored by Macy's Department Store.
