It was very educational and after leaving there they went to the BYU Museum of Art. While walking on BYU campus Mr. Murray's class was lucky enough to run into BYU's basketball center, Trent Plaisted, on his way to practice. Trent, whose mother works at Brockbank, stopped to talk to the students and posed with them for a picture. The students were very excited to see him, they couldn't wait to get back to school and brag about seeing him to other students and to Trent's mother. Pictured with Trent Plaisted are Mr. Murray's 6th grade class. COUNTING THE DAYS: Foothills Elementary kindergarten celebrated 100 days of school! Each child was asked to make a picture or design using 100 of anything that they wanted to use. The children had to count objects as they were putting them on. They were very creative making pictures of fish in a fishbowl, worms underground, frogs on a lily pad and feathers on a bird. The 100th day was spent doing lots of activities using 100. Doing 100 exercises, 100 thumbprints, what they would buy with 100 dollars, what they would look like when they will be 100 years old and of course their favorite 100 treats. It was a great day of counting and having fun doing it. Spanish Oaks READ TO SUCCEED: Brockbank students were able to celebrate reading recently with Dr. Michael Bennett, who is a dentist, and also the father of Brockbank students; Estee, Sadie, and Morley Bennett. Dr. Bennett met with each grade level and discussed the importance of reading. He congratulated the students and encouraged them to keep on reading and doing their best in school! Pictured with Dr. Bennett is Mrs. Noorda and her first grade class. The fascinating stories, amazing photos and intriguing ads in The Spanish Fork News may divert your focus from doily events. While viewed as a positive thing in moderation, when taken to excess such diversion can disrupt even the most vital activities, such as picking up kids from soccer practice, properly stirring a jell-o salad, stopping at a red light, and, yes, even brushing your teeth. (See photo illustration below.") Courtesy photo SPELLING BEE: Congratulations to all those 3rd grade students who participated in the Spanish Oaks Third Grade Spelling Bee! A contest was held in each individual classroom and the class winners then participated in a school contest. They were cheered on by their classmates and parents as they strived to do their best. It was very successful and the students hard work paid off as they each took their turn at spelling their practiced words. Our 3rd grade school winners were: 1st place, Trystan Kelly; 2nd place, Justin Black; 3rd place, Carson Christensen. Congratulations to all the 3rd Graders at Spanish Oaks! £•** Mt. Loafer students were privileged to attend a delightful woodwinds performance, by the Prevailing Winds Musicians. The musical group demonstrated and taught a tittle bit about each woodwind instrument. They played familiar songs such as, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" in varied arrangements, the theme from "Harry Potter," and had some students participate with the instruments. Pictured here with the Prevailing Winds Musicians are Reggie Davis, Hunter Adamson, Aubrey Snyder, and Haley Cloward. |
