Jarrett, daughter of Scott and April Jarrett of Monticello, Ga., formerly of Spanish Fork. She turned one year old on Feb. 18, 2008. Grandparents of the birthday girl are Lin and Chuck Jarrell of- Spanish Fork, Larry Jarrett of Nephi, and Ana and Kent Silk of Rutledge, Ga. Nifty, Nifty on March 8 Lisa Cole turns 50! We love you, Mom and Grammy! Shanon, Byron, Brian, Heather, Lance, Susan,» Austin, and Sydnee Grant B. Moore There will be an open house for Grant B. Moore on Saturday, March 8, to celebrate his 85th Birthday. The open house will be held at the LDS Church in Salem at 60 South Main Street from 2-4 pm. Grant was raised in Payson and is a longtime resident of Salem. He served his country as a member of the Army Air Force in Italy during World War II. Returning from the war, he married Betty Jean Hanks from Salem. Grant worked at the Payson Chronicle for many years before going to work at BYU Press and worked there for 24 years, retiring in 1991. After his wife, Jean, passed away, Grant married Virginia Bradford. Grant and Virginia have been married for nearly 22 years. Friends and family are invited to the open house. No gifts please. McKay Gordon Mayer March 9 is a special day at the Mayer household. McKay Gordon will be turning one year old! His parents, Jake and Paige, and his special Aunt Annie think he's practically perfect in every way. McKay's sister, Raigan, calls her best little buddy "Bubba". He is also known as "JJ. M , little "Macker" (courtesy of his uncles. Heath and Clark). Quite frankly, McKay knows how to be very busy. His grandparents, Brad and Jan Gordon and Merril and Shelly Black both from Salem love trying to keep up with this little guy. Great grandparents, Keith and Beth Gordon WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2008 • A5 Kiwanis presents local radio host Eugene Coltedge KIWANIS The Kiwanis Club recently invited FM 100 radio host Rebecca Cressman to speak to Club members. Rebecca is currently hosting FM 100 from 5-9 a.m. with Brian Fox. She currently lives in Spanish Fork. Her husband is Dale Cressman and they have three sons. Rebecca gave a brief history of the evolvement of radio and of its present role in the communication world. She told of many personal experiences she has had since beginning her broadcasting career in .1990. She enjoys FM 100 because it is a more positive type broadcast when compared to strictly news broadcasts. She spends time daily interviewing people in the community to keep informed • of important issues affecting their lives. She says about 340,000 people listen to her weekly and she receives about 200 emails a day. Eugene Colledge conducted the meeting, Alan Johnson led the pledge and John Sump gave the prayer. from Lake Shore and Von1 and Dorothy Walker from Idaho, have given up trying to catch the little man. Happy birthday, McKay! . BYU football players influence scouts Last year, 112 young, men earned their Eagle Scout Badge. These young men and their parents were honored at a banquet held on Feb. 21, 2008. Each Eagle Scout was given a special certificate from the Palmyra District, plus a colored picture of the Eagle Scouts on the current BYU football team. Guest speakers were two BYU football players — Landon Jaussy and Stetson Tenney. Both are Eagle Scouts and returned missionaries. They spoke about the importance of scouting in their lives and how earning the Eagle Badge has helped them many times in handling different situations they have been faced with. Rebeca discussed the radio and her experiences on FM 100 Merit Badge Pow WoW March 6 is the last day to register forthe district BoyScout merit badge pow wow. The pow wow will be held on Saturday mornings, from 7-10 a.m. on March 8, March 15, and March 29,2008. Each scout will have the opportunity to work on three different merit badges.
