Show Sentinel B2 • WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2009 Spanish Fork will once again host the Utah County Fair Aug. 12-15, 2009 at the Fairgrounds, 475 South Main St. The fair will feature a wide variety of exhibits and entertainment, from 4-H and open class exhibitions to a ranch rodeo and demolition derby. Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12. The fair will open at 10 a.m. Aug. 13—15. Each evening the fair will close at 10 p.m. Fair access is by the Fairgrounds' east entrance, 425 South and 200 East, where there is free public parking. There is no admission fee for the fair. However there may be an admission fee for certain events. These pages showcase schedules and information on the various County Fair events. On Friday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. in the main arena, the Ranch Rodeo will pit teams of four against each other in a variety of timed ranch skills, from loading horses on trailers to branding and roping. Popular demolition derby returns to fair The Utah County Fair will culminate in the second annual Utah County Fair Demolition Derby, Saturday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Fairgrounds outdoor arena. Prizes totaling $7,500 will be awarded, with $3,000 going to the first place car. Tickets went on sale June 1, 2009 and may be purchased at the four Utah County Macey *s Grocery Stores. Tickets for adults are $10 prior to the event, $12 the day of show; kids, ages 6-11, $7 prior and $9 the day of; kids five and under are free. The event sold old last year. There will be four qualifying heats with 10 cars per heat. Cars will be inspected prior to the event, from 1^4- p.m. and there will be a driver's meeting at 6 p.m. Each car will receive three pit passes, one for the driver and one for extra help. |
