Main Spanish Fork Allied Insurance anee 798-3500 A i G • E «N i C 'Y Spanish Fork High School is doing a fundraiser for Helping Honduras Kids (HHK), an organization that gives Honduran children the opportunity to attend school. The goal for SHFS is to earn as much money possible to give these children a chance to attend school and get out of poverty. Throughout the week student body officers have been going around to classrooms collecting money for the fundraiser. To raise funds, each student body officer has a dare they are required to do if they earn $300. They only do the dare if they each earn $300. Greg Taylor has to partially shave his head. Carlos Garcia has to wear spandex and a tutu with roller blades and has to talk in Spanish for one week. Cameron Bardsley has to dress like a girl with high heels and makeup for a week. Dan Hales has to shave off his eyebrows, bleach the sides of hair, and not sit down in a chair during class. Brooke Comstock has to sing everything she says and has to crawl on the ground for a week. Karina Russon can't talk for one week since she talks the most out of all of the student body officers. Lacey Godfrey had to eat a bowl of night crawler spaghetti at the Battle of the Sexes assembly on Friday, April 3. Kendra Lauder can't shower for one week, can't get ready or wear make up for one week and has to wear a sqratchy potato sack burlap outfit for one week. YUDA. bands are being sold in the commons for $7 and all profits go towards a Honduran child getting an education. Dentistry is the goal of local SFHS intern Kaydee O'Brien SFHS Ryan Jellum, a senior at Spanish Fork High School, interns for Ken Palmer Family Dentistry, DDS. He likes interning there because of all the nice people and patients. Ryan said he is learning how to read charts and make appointments on the computers. Sometimes h& gets to work with patients, but mostly just holding the suction tube, or handing Dr. Palmer his instruments. "It's really interesting to learn how the mouth functions and all the different parts of the teeth," Ryan said. This fall he will be attending Utah Valley University for Ryan Jellum his first year of school. After that he wants to attend Utah State to finish school. Then he will apply to Creighton University for dental school to become either a dentist or orthodontist. |
