The top of the sixth was more of the same when Money saved a run with the diving catch of a line drive. With the Dons up 3-2 in the seventh, things looked good when Adam Duke struck out thefirsttwo batters. With two out the Viking's hitter reached base and advanced to second on an error. A single tied the game and sent it to extra innings. Chase Castleberry came in for the Dons in the eighth and shut the Vikings down in their half by striking out the side. In the bottom, Adam Duke drew a walk and advanced on a sac. bunt from Brett Grover. The next hitter for the Dons, Nate Binks, swung and missed on strike three; however, the catcher dropped the ball so Binks took off for first. When the catcher sailed the ball into right field, Duke was able to score for the walk-off strike- out win. Trevor Randolph led the Dons by going 3-3 and scoring two of the Dons' four runs. Greg Money and Brock Duke were the only other Dons to record a hit in the game. Spanish Fork 6 Pleasant Grove 3 (8 innings) at PG The Dons sent ace Brock Duke to the hill in hopes of getting the region-opening two-game sweep. Duke was spectacular through five as he struck out eight of the first 14 batters he faced. Duke did not allow a hit until the fifth inning of play. Meanwhile,the Dons were able to take a 3-0 lead with a run in the second and two more in the third. The second inning run came when Dallas Smith led the inning off with a single. Smith was able to come around and score on an RBI double from Nate Binks. In the third inning, Trevor Randolph showed his power when he led the inning off with a home run over the left-field wall. The other run came when Brock Duke hit a double and scored on an RBI single from Dallas Smith. The Vikings tied things up in the fifth with three runs of their own. The Vikings were able to score when they pieced together a walk and three singles. Just like two days before, after seven innings the game was tied at 3-3. The Dons put three runs on the board in the top of the eighth to put the game out of reach. Nate Binks got on with a walk, Brett Grover got hit by a pitch, and Greg Money walked to load the bases for senior Brock Duke. Duke ripped a ball to the left center gap to score all three base runners. Duke slammed the door shut on the Vikings in the bottom of the inning by not allowing a hit or base runner. Duke had a nice line, getting the win on the mound with 11 strikeouts, while giving up only four hits. At the plate Duke was 4—5 with three RBI and a run scored. Trevor Randolph and Dallas Smith also had a multihit day to lead the Dons. SF Tennis Samantha Beck / Spanish Fork News REGION ACTION: The SFHS tennis team took on Lone Peak Tuesday, March 31 and Lehi, Thursday, April 2. They lost to Lone Peak 4-1 and beat Lehi 3-2. Trevor West, at first singles, lost 6-3 7-5. At second singles Colton Sermersheim won 6-3 7-5 and at third singles Dan Soffe won 7-5 7-5. The first doubles team of Tyrel Prior and Josh Decker lost 6-4 6-2, and the second doubles team of Taylor Christensen and Cade Sermersheim won 6-3 6-2. It was a 16-team format with single elimination. Team 1 had little difficulty until the quarter final, where they had a close game but won by five points. Then they waited for Foothills Team 2, who played a double-over time game against Meadowlark 1st Ward. Foothills 2 finally came out with a five-point win. After a 10-minute break, the two Foothills teams squared off in the championship game. Team 1 pulled off a four-point victory against Team 2.
