In attendance were grandmothers, mothers, daughter-inlaws and granddaughters who all came together for a day of food, fun and good old family time. One of the ladies said, "It does not matter how good you can shoot. It's about coming out and having fun, as well as spending time with your family." There were women from all over who came to the shoot, including Ogden and Heber. Golf wins again Region IV had its second golf tournament of the year. Two long pass plays allowed the Tbirds a chance to get on the board with a short TD run. On the ensuing kickoff, the orangemen recovered the ball after it was juggled by a Don inside the red zone. It appeared that Spanish Fork took a turn for the worse. But a relentless effort by the Don defense made a stand. On third and goal, Dallin Naulu batted down a TD toss, and the Dons held Timpview to a field goal. With less than a minute to go, the T-birds struck again. This time they benefited from a 40-yard circus catch and a 20-yard screen play that set up their final score just before Fall Baseball Instructional League Anyone interested in participating in the Utah Baseball Academy fall baseball instructional league.-needs to register before Sept. 5, 2007. The Dons trailed 16-0 heading into the locker room. Both defenses were tough as nails for most of the night. A punt by Matt Gardner pinned the orangemen inside the 10 yard-line, but Timpview began to roll. They used a combination of run and pass plays to set up a fade pass which went for another score, giving them a 23-0 lead. Timpview pinned the Dons inside their own 15 yard-line. This led to another big play as Breck Lewis threw an interception, which was returned by a T-bird for a 32 yard score. Trailing 30-O at the end of the third seemed hopeless, but the Dons wouldn't quit. Two Timpview penalties and a huge 32-yard catch and run by Naulu set up SF's first score of the night. Breck Lewis scored on a quarterback keeper to narrow the lead to 30-7. Timpview fumbled on their first play from scrimmage, and it was recovered on a great hustle play by Nate Binks. With third down and 20 yards to go, Lewis went to his favorite target of the night. Naulu made another fine catch and run from a poised Breck Lewis. Jordunn Mattinson then snagged a beautifully-thrown fade pass from Lewis for another score with 11 minutes remaining. Junior Bobby Clauson had lost the pigskin earlier on a kickoff return, but on the ensuing kickoff he got his revenge, stripping the ball from a T-bird to give the Dons a chance for another big play. Lewis then hit Richard Wilson for two big pass plays, with the latter being a fourth down 20yard TD reception. After this score, SF faked the PAT and found success on a pass from Clay Kerecman to sophomore Jordunn Mattinson for the twopoint conversion. Spanish Fork only trailed Timpview by eight at this point in the contest. With the momentum riding high, the Don defense prevailed once again and forced the T-birds to punt. Nifty runs by Randolph and Hamilton kept the chains moving and allowed the Dons to get past mid-field. With 5:42 remaining, Lewis hit a streaking Mattinson for a 42yard strike to pull within two. The Dons came out just a yard shy of stunning one of the best teams in the state. Spanish Fork travels to Payson on Friday, Aug. 24 for a school rivalry showdown.
