Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Feature Hungry for Mexican food? Try Fernandos Hideaway By Barbara Pyles You say you are in the mood for authentic Mexican food? Well, Fernandos Hideaway, located at 332 West 300 North, is the new kid on the block in that area. The restaurant has much to offer. On entering, visitors are usually greeted by owner Peggy Rich, and her enthusiasm leaves an impression. The interior has been remodeled on a grand scale. The dining room, which has fifteen tables, is clean, bright, and cheerful. If guests are inclined, they can eat on the patio outside. Just reading the menu can make your mouth water. Its the perfect place to meet friends and bring visitors. Bill, alias Fernando, is the owners husband and does most of the cooking. The food is homemade and Rich says they use only the freshest ingredients in their cooking. The chips are crisp and the salsa is made fresh every single day. If the salsa is not hot enough, look for the extra spices on the table. The menu has a variety of dishes. There is something for everyone, says Rich. The Antojitos (appetizers) will out-of-to- stimulate the appetite. They in- clude a Greek specialty, Dolmathes, beef, rice and spices wrapped and steamed in a grape leaf. Then there is Calamari, whole squid cooked European or Mexican style. Some customers start their dining experience by feasting on Stuffed Shrimp, Cheese Crisp, or a Nachos Suprema. Others like the Fried Zucchini, Fried Mozzarella or Hot Wings. Ready for the main course? Build your own combination. Choose a Tamale, Taco, Tostada, Taquito, Enchilada, Burrito or Chili Relleno. Each combination is served with Spanish rice and beans. Or order a Taco Salad. The menu has various house specials ranging from Navajo Tacos, Crab, Spinach or Zucchini Enchiladas, to a Spanish Omelette or Fajitas (chicken or beef). All entrees are served with Spanish Rice and Refried Beans. For steak lovers, the menu includes Ribeye, Porter House, and and for the seafood lover theres Shrimp, Halibut and Red Snapper, served with your choice of fries or rice and beans. Of ri course there is the T-Bo- All-Ame- Is can Hamburger. We cater to Vegans and Vegetarians, says Rich. There is no grease in the rice, and we do beans for them." the lard-les- s Rich hasnt forgotten the Little Amigo" or the Senior Citizen. There is something for them on the menu too. Ifyou have a sweet tooth, you can end your meal with ice cream or cheesecake. Whatever you order, youll get friendly service. About her goal for the restaurant, Rich says her aim is customer satisfaction. We want to give our customers good service, good food and lots of it. If you cant eat all of your it home with you. Sadly, Rich was denied the liquor license that she applied for through the Kanab City Council. This prevents her from serving beer, wine and food, Rich will send 8 WEDNESDAY MAY 14, 1897 3 1 r f v 4 ? t .. i rtf Fernando's Hideaway owners BUI and Peggy Rich invite you to come and try out their new restaurant in Kanab. Those darling girls bringing babies into the world, and carrying them into the summer heat, have my sincere sympathy. We watched as one beautiful blonde girl, waddled to her car. Her feet heading north and south as her heavy burden seemed to weigh her down, in the greatest effort to place one foot in front of the other. My husband reminded me that ten times, I had been in that be waddled situation. . So, dear sweet girls those men in your life will never know how you are feeling.
