Hall, 1059 Princeton Ave. Miss Hall will receive a Bache-lor of Fine Arts degree in cere-monies at the Bloomfield Hills, Mich., academy, according to word received last week in Salt Lake City. 2 University Coeds To Head Societies Sugar House area coeds have been elected presidnts cf two women's organizations at the University of Utah. Bonnie Brothers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison S. Broth-ers, 3347-7t- h East, is new presi-dent of Mortar Board, senior women's honor society. Rosemary Isom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Del Roy Isom, 1864 Yuma St., is the new leader of Spurs, sophomore women's ser-vice group. Successor To Supt. Grourley To Be Named Applicants for a successor for David Gourley, retiring superin-tendent of the Granite School District, have been "narrowed down to five or six" and a selec-tion will likely be made soon. This was explained last week at a. meeting of the Granite Board of Education by O. Thayne Acord, board chairman. A group of 12 Granite District residents, with Dr. Henry Plenk, 2169 Pheasant Way, as spokes-man, asked the board to con-sider suggestions from univer-sities across the nation in making its selection. Mr. Acord said a successor would be named probably within the next week or two. Art Workshop The third annual Art Education Workshop, being sponsored by Westminster College and the Utah Art Educators' association, will be held on the Westminster cam-pus June 10-2- 1 under the direc-tion of Delbert VV. Smedley, Di-rector of Art, Granite School Dis-trict and editor of the Art Bul-letin of the Utah association, it was announced by the College. The purpose of the workshop is to assist the classroom instruc-tors in more creative art activi-ty in both the arts and crafts programs. It is organized to de-velop art education on all levels from kindergarten through high school, and will give emphasis to using the newer methods tech-niques and materials. Presentation of the workshop will be through lectures, panels, group discussion and question answer panels, along with com-prehensive workshops with many types of materials. Members of the Central com-mittee are Dr. Frank E. Duddy, Jr., president of Westminster; Elaine S. Michelsen, professor of art at the College; Glenn J. Bee-le- y, director of Pioneer Craft House; Bernice B. Littlefield, in-structor of art, Salt Lake City Public Schools; Bessie Stevens, elementary instructor, Davis Dis-trict, and H. Edward Nelsen, in-structor of Art, Granite School District. Two sessions will be held each day, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Evening entertain-ment is being planned. The Art Education Workshop carries three credit hours of up-per division or refresher credit in either the Art or Education departments of Westminster Col-lege. Rooms and meals during the workshop will be provided at minimum cost on the campus. New School The Seventh-da-y Adventist Church began construction on a 10 grade school building this week at 3375 S. near 9th East, Pastor Currier revealed today. The estimated cost of the pro-ject will be $32,900.00 it is plan-ned that the building will be ready by September 1st in time for the 1957 school year. This educational center will include a large auditorium for. recreational activities, a kitchen to supply the hot lunch program for the students, and three main classrooms on the main floor adjacent to the principals office. The building will be planned to be enlarged as the need requires. Sufficient parking facilities will be supplied on the grounds, as well as playground equipment. Community Church Elects New Holladay Officers Elections have been held by members of the Holladay Com-munity Church, 2031 E. 4800 So. A. H. Hamilton has been nam-ed moderator; E. D. Haddon, financial secretary; Jean R. Mor-ton, treasurer; Mrs. Roy Erick-so-n, clerk; Mrs. John Hooker, Sundap School superintendent, and Mrs. Earl Evans, assistant superintendent. Elected to the board of trust-ees were Mrs. Dan Moyle. Robert Haedt, Ben L. Tyson, C. J. Bent-so- n; board of deacons, Mrs. Hal N. Mays, Mrs. Rose; Miss Annie Hall; Lawrence Kissler, Robert Kluck and Robert Mattison; board of Christian education, Mrs. Lawrence Boris, Donald Gregg, Mrs. P. O. Ackley, Mrs. Leo Brunswick, Dean Kerr, Mrs. Allen James and John Church. The church also announced last week member approval of a $40,000 loan to complete the building Members also approved affiliation with the Salt Lake Council of Churches, now being formed.
