Knudson, who has been appointed to replace him. as head of the officer training division. He attended the FBI Training School in Washington, D.C. Lt. Knudson also has his home in the Sugar House area, living at 273 Rosewood Ave. A transfer in the Salt Lake Police Department this week sent Capt. H. Fred Lee from the head of the Sugar House Division to the headquarters office at 105 South State and Lt. Ralph C. Knudson to Sugar House. Captain Lee has been with the Department 27 years and will be eligible for retirement on May 1, 1959. Prior to his join-ing the department in 1931 he had seven years of law enforce-ment experience, four years as a Texas Ranger in the Lone Star State, and three years with the Salt Lake County sheriff's office. He has been in charge of the Sugar House Station about two years on the assignment just completed, prior to that he had served in almost all the divisions of the police depart-- , ment. On a prior occasion, for one year, he directed activities at Sugar House, doubling at the same time with the radio patrol division. His new as-signment at headquarters will be with the administration division. Lt. Knudson began service with the Salt Lake Police fifteen years ago, being "broke in" by Capt. EMC Lions Slate Fund Raising Event A special fund raising dinner (at $3.50 per plate) is sched-uled Thursday evening June 26, by the East Mill Creek Lions,and the Lions plan to make the occasion a "roaring event" . The funds accrued from the dinner will go towards the completion of the East Mill Creek Park, scene of the dinner itself. A feature that augers success for the undertaking is that members from moist of the clubs in District 28-- T will be present, and a gala sbcializing atmosphere will prevail while old acquaintances are renewed and new ones made. Giving the evening a flavor of inter-clu- b solidarity will be the presence of Dan Ham-mond, member of the host club, who recently was honored by election to the ptfst of district governor. |
