Show Page 4 Sugar House, Utah Thursday, March 27, 1958 INDEPENDENT Passport to Loveliness Lie flat on the back on the floor. Place the hands together over the body and raise first the head, then the upper part of the chest, 'then the entire torso. Do this slowly until you come to a sitting position. While sitting tailor fashion on the floor, twist the body first to one side and then to the other until you can look directly behind you. All of these exercises pay particular attention to the spine which is the mainspring of a harmoniously working body. By Kuth Tolman Every woman and girl should strive to keep her body func-tioning efficiently and youth-fully so that she can enjoy her life not only the work" pe-riods, but the playtime, too. Old age is not a matter of years, it is rather a condition of the body, and many women fail to get the most out of life by cuting short their years of youthfulnes. One of the first signs of on-comi- ng old age Is stiffness; therefore, if you wish to retain youthfulness, you must keep' the joints of ' your body flexible. These exercises of stretching . will enable you to prolong your years of youthfulness. Lie face down on the floor, raise the torso from the floor by pushing with the hands on either side of the chest. Raise the head up as far as you can so that each vertebra is raised.
