Show Page 4 Sugar House, Utah Thursday. December 11, 1958 INDEPENDENT Young Couple Recite Temple Wedding Friday Joining the - holiday bridal parties are Miss Yvonne Luchau and John L. Jackson who recited vows Friday in the Salt Lake Temple. John Longden, assistant to . the Council of the Twelve Apostles, officiated. The new Mrs. Jackson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Luckau, 810 Wash-ington St. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard T. Jackson, 1721 East 3990 So. are the parents of the benedict. The young couple were feted with a wedding breakfast following the ceremony and that evening were honored at the Temple View Stake Center, The lovely bride chose a gown of lace and tulle under;-score-with taffeta. The fitted bodice was completed with winged collar and long sleeves tapering to points at the wrists. A pearl and sequin trimmed cap held the brides veil in place. The bride has been the in-spiration for many parties. The bridegroom recently completed an L. D. S. Mission. EWS from tho ' Sen-vice-s Army Recruit George C. Johnson Jr. recently completed light weapons instruction ,at Fort Carson, Colorado. Johnson received instruction in all phases of such crew-serve- d weapons as the automatic rifle, machine gunn, rocket launcher, and portable flame thrower. The 20 year-ol- d soldier, son of Mrs. Bertha Carlson John-son, 566 S. Ninth, W, worked for Commercial Shearing and Stamping Co.., before entering the Army last June. Jen Arrivals Thrilled over the birth of a baby son are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cortese, 1891 East Mill-bro- ok Road. The baby was born at LDS hospital and weighed in at 6 pounds, 2 ounces. Chocolate Creme Fudge 1 package (8 squares) Vi cup butter. or margarine candy-makin- g chocolate 23 cup chopped nuts ' V4 cup marshmallow creme y2 cup evaporated milk ' . lz teaspoon vanilla IV2 cups sugar Break chocolate squares in half. Place chocolate pieces, marsh-mallo- w creme, vanilla, butter, and nuts in bowl; set aside. Combine evaporated milk and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring occasionally. Continue boiling, without stirring, until a small amount of mixture forms a soft ball in cold water (or to a temperature of 232F.). Pour immediately over ingredients in bowl and stir until chocolate i3 melted and ra?xture is blended. Pour into greased 8x8-inc- h pan. Decorate witfe pecan halves, if desired. Cool; then cut into squares. Store im refrigera- tor. Makes about 1 pounds. Yule Party Hosted By Woman's Club Marking the holiday season with a party will be the Polumistura Women's Club when they meet Thursday even-ing at 7 p.m. The gala affair will be held at the home of Mrs. Lowell Sorensen, 1953 Hubbard Ave. A gift exchange and a surprise favor will be the high-lig-ht of the evening. General chairman of the arrangements is Mrs. John H. Wilson, assisted by Mrs. Robert W. Koplin, and Mrs. Richard M. Koplin, hostesses for the .buffet supper. Music Group Met Monday Mu Phi Epsilon, local chap, ter of the national music sorority, presented "Music of Russia" Monday evening when the eroup met at the home of. J. Tracey . Wooton, 1650 Kensington Ave. Participating in the program were Miss Berenice Swensen, Miss Judy Cushing, Miss Max-- ine Stuart, and a chofus from Central Junior High. Marilyn Cook, chapter pres-ident, presided. Miss Patricia Morgan, Miss Patricia Butikares, and Mrs. Wooton were hosetsses. |
