Show D.R. Curtis To Run For County Sheriff (..... , , , served with the Federal Bureau j of Investigation from 1941 to l 1915 in Oklahoma City, llono- j lulu, and Salt Lake City. He completed the school or special agents with training in crime detection and prevention, In- vestigative procedures and se- curity work. He was assigned to Honolulu at the time of the outbreak of the last war and was resident agent at Hilo, Hawaii with special security duties. ; Mr. Curtis has been inter- ested and active in youth activities for many years as a scout leader, teacher and youth counselor. He was recently named a member of the scouting scout-ing committee of the YMMIA General Board. At the present time he is manager of the Curtis Coal Company in Sugar House and co-owner of Radio Station I KWIC. "Many friends have urged j me to run for this office be- cause of my background and ! experience in law enforcement, j business administration and my I special interest in the juvenile I delinquency program. I have a keen desire to help with the j juvenile problem and I have ! some definite ideas I'm confident confi-dent will help in this direction," direc-tion," he reported. j "The Salt Lake County Sheriff is no longer just a man with a badge. The Sheriff's department has a budget of j nearly $400,000, which must be administered in a businesslike j manner. There are serious traf- j fic problems that are continually j growing more troublesome. j There is a driver's training program; school crossing offi- cers; needed improvements at j the county jail, the feeding of prisoners, the administration of the office, upkeep of some j 30 cars and 10 motorcycles and a force of nearly 100 deputies j and other employees along with other responsibilities and duties J that require special abilities. j Mr. Curtis lives at 5166 j Cottonwood Lane and is the father of five children. Mrs. Curtis is the former Muriel Morris. He attended LDS High School and graduated from the University of Utah in 1939. He also has filled a mission for the LDS Church and served in the Bishopric of South Highland High-land Park Ward. Dale R. Curtis Dale R.
