Show County. Schools Close For Summer School children in Salt Lake County started their 1958 summer sum-mer vacations this week while their Salt Lake City counterparts counter-parts were "stuck" in the classroom class-room for two more weeks. The county schools closed shop May 23. Graduation exercises exer-cises were held at Olympus, Jordan, Granite, Murray, Cyprus Cy-prus and Bingham high schools with Bingham the first county school to send its graduates into in-to the world. For the high school graduates grad-uates the closing of the school year held special significance with prospects of finding work called "limited." New School When school resumes next fall at least one new high school will be open. Granger High School opens its doors next fall with Gib Madsen as principal. Granger will draw from the area that has been sending its youngsters to Granite Gra-nite and Cyprus high schools. Granger will take part in the Region Four football schedule sche-dule this fall with Don Rydalch, former Uuiv. of Utah star, as head coach. Don Snow, former B.Y. High coach, will direct the Granger basketball . team. City Schedule Salt Lake City schools, South, East, West and Highland, High-land, will hold graduation exercises next week. City elementary and junior high schools will start their summer vacations at the end of next week. Granite School District opened the first of its two six-week six-week kindergarten classes this week with classes scheduled at each school in the district. |
