Yardley were all presented the ‘'Pillar Award for Service in the Community" plaque during the schixil’s Sixth Annual Christmas Yule Program held Dec 15 Students and faculty at the school chose the awards’ recipients because of their years of sellless service to others Prior to the presentation ol the awirds the program included choir and band performances from each grade under the direction of Jody Allred Kristal Childs and Kody Hughes has served Vest Mayfield City for 39 years in maintenance as a member of the town council and as mayor lie also served as president of the Sanpete County Mayois Association Recently retired Griuit has worked in education for a local gas station and delivered fuel lor 25 years Grant General Excellence COPY winner Grant and his wife Burkira have presided over the Christmas Eve Santa Visit in Mayfield for many years They are the parents of six children Boyd Goble and his wife Margoret each received individual awaids Under the guidance ol Boyd GVHS was well known lor a quality music program that cluded marching bands musicals and choruses Boyd has served on the Gunnison City Council won the Jnycees’ Distinguished Service Award and was the Grand Mtrshal in the July 4th Parade As a youngster Margaret wanted to learn to play the piano ler family didn't own one so the neighbois invited her over to their house everyday to piacticc Her skillful playing often accompanied Boyd who is known for his vibrant singing voice Margaret and Boyd give much of themselves both musically and in service to others Over the years they have performed at Christmas programs Old I oiks Parties and hundreds of funerals The Gobles have raised four children and six foster children Vern Hatch is known for working behind the scenes with Ins talents and skills Vem has done many things for many people over the years because it is his nature to help he community once had a problem with lighting as they prepared lor the Christmas season Vent's wile
