Monday, Nov. 25 (By Courier to Nancy, Nov. 27: By the Associated As-sociated Press). The indications are that the American army of occupation will spend Thanksgiving in its present positions on this side of the German frontier. The Americans already have started a search for the luxuries of Luxemburg for Thursday's dinner. In the absence of turkeys, they are casting their eyes at Luxemburg's chickens, geese, ducks and pigeons. ! The German officers also were fond of 1 chickens and geese, and consequently I the farmers and villagers have but a I few on hand. There is plenty of Amert-j Amert-j can frozen beef at the ports, but the Americans feel they should have some , kind of poultry on the day that everybody every-body at home is eating turkey. Nevertheless, the mess sergeants have assured the officers and men that nearly near-ly everything is on hand for the regulation regula-tion Thanksgiving dinner excepting the ; turkey and the cranberries. Everybody ' figures that things could have been : worse, especially if the armistice had not been signed. So this Thanksgiving will I be in anticipation of the next Thanks-i Thanks-i giving at home among relatives and friends and turkeys and cranberry sauce. . I |
