The remains of the late Vice-President Wilson reached hero on Sunday morning, and were received by the governor of Maesa-cbutts, Maesa-cbutts, the mayor of Boston and other officials and an immense crowd of citizeua and conveyed to the lUte bouse, where they were laid in stale and visited during the day by at ler.st 30,000 people. It was remarked that Hie countenance of the deceased bore the characteristics and general appearance ap-pearance it wore when in life and was somewhat natural even in death. The complexion, however, had changed much, Bhowing that decomposition decom-position had already progressed fur in its work. The public funeral eervicps took place yesterday in the representatives' hall of the suite house, where were assembled most of the leading officials of tho state and cily and many other distinguished persons. The ball was densely crowded. A hymn was sung, a prayer offered by Rev. Dr. Miner, and a sermon was preached by the Rev. J. M. Jennings. |
