Charles Pohle, a young German clerk, who took his employer's buggy, etc., and went off on a spree, as to-day sentenced by Judge Sawyer to pay $100 or to go to jail for 50 days. Cook has been speaking all the morning on his motion for a new trial for Mrs. Fair. The general impression impres-sion seems to be that the motion will be denied and the sentence pronounced. It is doubtful if the case will be concluded con-cluded to-day. The original locations covering the celebrated Emma mine, Little Cottonwood Cotton-wood District, Utah, have been bought by John B. Frisbie, Geo. S. Dodge, Wm. M. Lent, A. E. Head and Mark Livingston, and have organized under the name of the Emma 'Mining Company, Com-pany, of San Francisco, with J. D.. Fry as President, and Wm. Willis, Secretary. The price paid is private, but rumor says a hundred thousand dollars has been paid for the one-half. The United States Grand Jury have found 116 indictments for violation of revenue laws, two for perjury and one for misdemeanor in concealing goods from the assignees, two for purchasing military equipments and clothing in San Francisco, one for assaulting an officer of the customs, four for cutting timber upon United States surveyed lands, one for obstructing a deputy U. S. surveyor, five for demanding and exacting a tax license from Chinamen, one for stealing the mail of the. United States, one for smuggling and one for importing distilled spirits into Alaska.
