Show The Diphtheria Alarm. It is better to lock the door after one horse is 6tolen than to leave it unlocked and thereby indirectly give thieves an invitation to complete the job ; and it is better for some sanitary measures to be adopted now by the municipal authorities than not at all. The number of deaths from the dreadful scourge, diphtheria, in our midst during the past few weeks, is something appalling, and is largely due to the irresolution and inaction of the City Council. Not only this, but many people are leaving, and a large number have already gone, thus giving the city a black eye and producing needless expense and trouble to residents and visitors, to say nothing of the state of alarm in which every family is constantly placed. Let something be done, and quickly |
