Show Wednesday. Mov..lU9SS The Salina Sun 10 Yes Sir, Yes Sir, three bags full The wool flew last week as the Bill Gonzales Sheep Shearers clipped their way through the valley. Most of the shearers are from New Zealand, Australia and England, according to Gonzales, and they make their living traveling around the world shearing sheep. While the group was in Redmond, the twelve shearers took care of 1750 sheep. The best shearer boasted of 20 1 sheep done in a single day; with next best at 199; and third place numbers at 189. It is not unusual for the group to shear 13,000 sheep in one week, DWR Peace, Love, Richfield Care Center Gonzales noted. The wool is gathered and packed into giant burlap bags, each holding from 300 to 350 pounds. At the Johnson Ranch, in Aurora , Jcrold Johnson noted that the price of wool this year is between SI. 40 and $1.50 per pound.
