Show New Utah! - Wednesday, August 15, 2001 - Page 16 Ted Lansing Corp. opens PI. Grove location By Julie A. Bellon Over '200 people enjoyed a catered dinner at the Grand Opening of Ted Lansing Corporation in Pleasant Grove last Tuesday. The corporation is headquartered in Richmond, Va, and is a wholesale distributor of exterior building supplies. They recently expanded the business to Utah, added to their other 50 warehouses warehous-es spread across fourteen states, with Utah being the farthest away. Chris Lansing, who serves as the President and CEO commented, "The new off ramp into Pleasant Grove made a big difference inl our decision to come here. Our new building is definitely strategically located and is a tangible statement that we are interested in the community communi-ty of Pleasant Grove." After the ribbon-cutting, there was a small presentation presenta-tion with several speakers introduced by Dan Toboz the regional manager. The first speaker, Chris Tambasco, the president of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association welcomed wel-comed Ted Lansing Corp to Utah Valley, commenting that "their reputation shows their commitment to business and community is strong." Xansing also addressed the group with the vision of Ted Lansing Corp. becoming, becom-ing, more involved in the fabric of the community since "building materials " O AtO' iwf a A , 4 t . Carol Harmer of the Pleasant Grove city council spoke on behalf of the mayor and Pleasant Grove city residents stating, "We are very excited to have this facility in our community. It will be a convenience for contractors and those in the building business. We are very happy you are here." Ms. Harmer pointed out that anytime new business comes in it's exciting because it widens the tax base and employment opportunities. After the presentation, free hats, cups, and T-shirts were given out to those who attended as well as several large door prizes that included a beautiful brass weather vane, a fly fishing pole and a television set. Ted Lansing Corp. was founded in 1955 by the current cur-rent CEO's father. Lansing died of Lou Gehrig's disease in 1980 and his son Chris took over. He expanded into the Utah area in 1999, returning to the area where he earned his degree from Brigham Young University. "We like the West," Mr. Toboz commented. "We have a great customer base here and this facility in Pleasant Grove will help us build our business even more." The company also operates facilities in Ogden, Salt Lake, Logan, and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
