Show Pleasant Grove Review New Utah - Thursday, April 29, 2004 - Page 10 Lace From Front Page Pleasant Grove Boai-d of Adjustments, although that board could overturn the commission's decision. A three-acre ranchette located at 2131 N. 180 West in a residential zone, the home has been has been featured in the SeptemberOctober Septem-berOctober 2003 Utah Valley Val-ley magazine for its architecture archi-tecture and decor that hearken back to the Old West. The Prescotts hoped to begin a venture reflecting its western theme with a seasonal outdoor business. There is an existing building that would be remodeled for restrooms. Parking would be available to host between 15 to 200 people. Most of the neighbors from the Tuscany Farms Development and other nearby subdivisions protested the idea of a outdoor out-door reception center because they . were concerned con-cerned about alcohol consumption, con-sumption, noise, trash and traffic congestion. A few of the residents .spoke in favor of the plans and thought the upgraded landscaping and features would enhance the area. The commission's reason for the denial was that a wedding reception center did not fall within the allowances listed for the conditional use code for businesses. At the onset of the presentation pres-entation on the item, Stan Klementson, Pleasant Grove city planner, did cite that under the conditional use code religious services, bed and breakfasts, recreational recre-ational camps, riding academies, acade-mies, community centers, dude ranches could all be built in a residential zone. "You can hold a wedding reception at most of these and it would be a legitimate use, Klementson said. A reception center was riot listed as one of those items. 4 H T!
