A reception will honor the newlyweds that same evening from 6:30 to 8:30 Leola Oveson to mark 90th The family of Leola Oveson Ove-son will honor her with a family celebration for her 90th birthday Saturday, May 1. She was born April 29, 1914 in Cleveland, Utah to Anna Johannah Johnson and Clarence Donavon Oveson. She had four children, Darlene Wayman, deceased; Arden (Brenda) Guymon, Mesquite, Nev.; Leora Oman, Lehi and Floyd (Faye) Guymon, West Jordan. Jor-dan. She has many grandchildren grand-children and great-grandchildren. Leola has done beautiful crocheting and all the families fami-lies and many friends have Dale Lewis to celebrate 80th birthday Dale W. Grove pioneer has 100th birthday Eva Melissa Garfield Rosenbaum will celebrate her 100th birthday today, April 29. Her great-grandfather was William Henry Green, one of the earliest settlers of Pleasant Grove, whose son, John Green, was married mar-ried to Sarah Malinda Alexander in 1857, by Bishop Henson Walker. The John Green family lived in Pleasant Grove for several years and were the family involved in the sol-dierindian sol-dierindian fight that occurred in Pleasant Grove in 1863. Eva's parents were George Albert Garfield and Sarah Helen Green, the seventh child of John and Sarah Green. She was bom in North Elwood, Box Elder County, Utah, became a teacher and taught 10 years in Utah before moving to California. Califor-nia. Married in 1933 to Frank Oscar Rosenbaum, they had two children, Warren Rosenbaum of Fresno, California, and Audrae Rosenbaum Ernest Rogers a resident of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove since 1986. Eva taught another 33 years, primarily in California. Califor-nia. She was a walker after her retirement, walking walk-ing 1-2 miles every day until in her early 90's. At Miiinr TiiiiMI- li nil ff - MtM iii i ii A Eva Garfield Rosenbaum age 87 she was awarded a Presidential Sports Award by President George Bush Sr. The first person in her direct line of ancestors to reach 100 years old, she is a direct descendant of three 1848 Utah Pioneers -Nancy Cressy Walker, Horace Martin Alexander and Sarah Malinda Alexander. A life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was honored on April 23 at a Relief Soceity birthday party by the Van Ness Ward, East Fresno Stake. There will be several open houses in her honor on April 29, May 1 and 2 at her Fresno home. The couple Center hosts Bingo on Mondays The Jacobs Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. except holidays. Seniors can enjoy quilting, exercising, exercis-ing, and visiting at the center as well as play billiards and games, put together puzzles, and take occasional tours when available. Bingo is each Monday at 10:30 a.m. Ceramics classes are every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Quilting is done daily. Lunch is served each day at noon and menus are planned for the nutrition nutri-tion needs of the senior citizens. Reservations Reser-vations are needed one day in advance. Menus are listed here for convenience conven-ience and may be clipped out and used for reference during the month. There is a small fee charged for lunch. PGHS Vikings of the Month listet By Kalyn Secretan The Pleasant Grove High School Vikings of the Month for April were recognized at the recent PTSA meeting at the school. They are Venessa Renee Marquiss, Kamille Kemp, Cami Munden, Jacob Wood-house Wood-house and Jacob Schellen-berg. Schellen-berg. Cami was unable to be at the recognition because she was on tour with the ballroom dance team. Vanessa Marquiss is adventuresome and enjoys experiencing many different differ-ent places and things. One of her greatest passions is clogging. She started at the age of six and has excelled in the art. There is never much peace and quiet in the home due to the fact that her feet never stop practicing, practic-ing, she has received numerous awards at competitions compe-titions in states all over the West. After graduation Vanessa plans on attending college to continue her education edu-cation and teach clogging as a hobby. Cami Munden was born in Roosevelt, Utah, her family fam-ily moved to Cedar City and settled in Lindon when she was seven years old. Cami has many interests in life, she enjoys music, sewing, water skiing, singing in the a capella choir and dancing on the ballroom dance team. She has also served as seminary president. The past two years Cami has ranked in the top six in ballroom ball-room dance team competitions competi-tions held at BYU and has placed first in two out-of-state competitions. Schellen hopes to be accepted onto a college team and would like to pursue an education in the nursing field. Kamille Kemp was a beautiful baby and is a beautiful girl. She was the sixth child born into her family. She is thoughtful and kind and tender hearted. heart-ed. Kamille is hard working and is sought after by ladies in her neighborhood to clean for them. She senses others needs. She entertains enter-tains her family, she is a born mimic. She loves music and sings and plays the piano. She enjoys playing basketball and adores little children. Jacob Woodhouse was the first of five children. He loves physical activity and enjoys sports of all kinds. He loves chess and strategy type games. He loves to help people and is an extremely hard worker. He had the wor opportunity to live in Taiwan Tai-wan last summer, he went to school there and was able to experience, the and learn a lot.
