Show Funeral Is Held Monday For Mrs. Nancy C. Barton Relatives and friends assembled Monday afternon at the First ward L.D.S. chapel to pay final tribute of respect to the memory of Mrs. Nancy C. Barton and express ex-press sympathy and love for the family. The impressive services, conducted by Bishop Welby Gammon Gam-mon began at 1 p.m. Leo Hanson, accompanied by Ann Hanson sang the opening number "Abide With Me." Invocation was offered by Wesley Jense. First speaker was Don Mack Dalton, life-long friend of the Bartons, Bar-tons, having known the family since the early days in Colorado. Mr. Dalton paid high tribute to the departed mother, and also to the loyalty of her family. Next speaker was Joseph Olpin of Heber, who in kindly, simple words told of early acquaintances and friendships, and admonished all to seek the gospel as the true way to enernal life, and DroeTess. Here followed a vocal duet, "Whispering Hope," by Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Dunford, accompanied by Mrs. B. Cobbley. Former Bishop Ertman Christ-ensen Christ-ensen told of his acquaintance with the family and gave very inspirataional thoughts. After closing remarks by Bishop Gammon, Mrs. S. W. Hilton and Elwood Allen sang "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling." They were accompanied by Mrs. Stanley Weeks, who also played prelude and postlude organ music. Benediction was pronounced by Lewis Harmer. Burial directed by Olpin Mortuary, Mor-tuary, was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, where the dedicatory prayer was offered by Elmo Russon. Pallbearers weer Keith Smith, Elmo Russno, Norman Barton, Clem Sheriff, Dwaine Williams, and Robert Walker. Floral offerings offer-ings were carded for by the First Ward Relief Society. A native of St. Charels, Ida, where she was born March 10, 1866, Mrs. Barton moved from the area when she was 12 years of age and made her home at San Louis Valley in Colorado. There she was married ot Geo. W. Barton, July 4, 1889. He died July 18, 1938. Surviving are a son and three daughter: George F. and Stella Barton, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Thomas (Annie) Hansen, American Ameri-can Fork, and Mrs. Fay (Elsie) Smith. Provo; 14 grandchildren & 18 great-grandchildren. |
