Show Impressive Services Conducted For Joseph H. Adams Final tribute of respect was paid Monday July 31, to the memory mem-ory of Joseph H. Adams, who died last Thursday in the American Fork hospital. The services were held in the First ward chapel at 5.30 o'clock, were conducted by Bishop Ertman Christensen. The opening number, O My Father, was rendered by E. B. Terry, of Orem, accompanied by his daughter. Invocation was offered of-fered by Gothlief Buhler, a close friend of Mr. Adams. A violin solo "I Need Thee Every Hour" was rendered by Prof. J. LeRoy Robertson of Salt Lake City. Speakers were Jessie D. Jewkes of Orangeville, who spoke of Bro. Adams honesty and integrity, and spoke words of consolation to the family; Joseph Olpin of Heber related incidences from his childhood child-hood which had adhered him to Brother Adams and his family. Elvin Thorne reminesced, and spoke as one of the family, not as just a friend look on, and made mention of the good deeds Brother Broth-er Adams had done, molding character char-acter of young people. A quartette, including Kirby Allen, Elwood Allen, Taylor Allen and Ellis Holdaway, accompanied by Mrs. Taylor Allen sang "In The Garden." Benediction was pronounced by Earl A. Beck, a ward teacher of Mr. Adams. Interment was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, where Charles A. Robbins offered the dedicatory prayer. Pall bearers, grandsons of "the deceased, Clyde Judd, Dr. Guy A. Richards, J. O. Clark, Joseph A dams, Clyde J. Robbins, Dale Rob-bins. Rob-bins. Members of high priest.-, quorum were in line as honorary pall bearers. Floral offerings, which were profuse and beautiful, and the large congregation, bespoke of the admiration of all who knew Bro. Adams and his family. Mr. Adams was a life long resident resi-dent of Pleasant Grove, being a son of William H. Adams, Senior, who was one of the first three men to set foot in Pleasant Grove, and Francis Ann Otten. He was born February 22, 1865. He was active in L. D. S. church work throughout his life, serving 14 years as Supt. of Su'nday School and also served in other capacities, and at the time of his death was a member of the High Priests quorum. His wife, Colenda Rogers, -whom he married January 4, 1888, preceded pre-ceded him in death, 16 years. He is survived by seven sons and daughters, Pearl Judd, Oaklay, Idaho; Id-aho; Roxie Richards, American Fork, Zola Robbins, Orem, Ruel Adams, Rowena Clark, George Adams, Evelyn Robbins, Pleasant Grove; 32 grand children, 38 great grand children and 3 great-great grand children. |
