Show FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JOSEPH SHOELL The Third ward chapel was filled to capacity Monday afternoon which together with the many beautiful floral pieces denoted the respect of the community for Joseph Shoell, who passed away at the hospital Friday morning after an illness of six months from general debility. He had been confined to the hospital hospi-tal for ten weeks. Bishop Frank D. Atwood had charge of the services, which were conducted by Counselor William W. Lim. Mrs. Reva W. Fugal sang a solo as opening number and prayer was offered by Richard D. Wadley. Speakers were Gotlieb Buhler, President Clifford E. Young of the Alpine stake, Stake President W. W. Warnick, Bishop Helga V. Swenson and Bishop Atwood. All spoke in appreciation of his kindly nature, his love of the beauties of nature and his learning through his studies along these lines. His appreciation of others and ability to see good in them were also extolled. Interspersing speakers Mrs. Phyllis Phyl-lis H. Larsen player an organ solo and the closing song was by Mrs. Edith G. Young of American Fork. The closing prayer was offered by Ezra F. Walker and the dedicatiorial prayer by Louis Bastian. Joseph H. Shoell was born June 12, 1859, in England, the son of Frederick and Sarah Jones Shoell. His parents brought him to Utah at the age of two, settling in Pleasant Grove where he has since resided. His occupation was a fruit grower. Mr. Shoell never married. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Emily Eaton, Vernal; Mrs. Dezzie Tripp, Murray; Mrs. Beatrice Stone, Garfield; Gar-field; Sidney Shoell, Blackfoot, Idaho; and Fred C. Shoell of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. |
