After the ski season, the service has no underwriter, though Summit County Commissioner Pat Cone, one of the buses' original proponents, propo-nents, is now pushing for a Special Service for Transportation, a district dependent on the County Commission. Cone says the County will need some way of paying for the Special Service district, whether through fee assessment taxes or through restaurant restau-rant taxes. Cone says the Commisson could sign a resolution for the district as early as this week. In the meantime, he's letting the new service speak for itself. "If there's someone in Park City that needs to go to Wal-Mart," says Cone, "they can catch a free ride." Wal-Mart, however, is not an official offi-cial stop on the buses' route, says Hender as she drives through its parking lot, on the way back to the Canyons, and, eventually. Park City. "I cant stop at Wal-Mart," she says, "and that's a problem." Hender says her passengers' only complaints are when she cant drop them off at or pick them up from a certain business because, she says, it doesnt patronize the bus. "But we're working the kinks out," says Hender, noting that signs arent even posted at the stops yet. As a bus driver, Hender sees a need and a future for public transportation transporta-tion in the Basin. "This is just a baby," she says. "It's going to grow." 1 1 Family Restaurant Since 1979 H i J Breakfast, Lunch & Bj 1 1 Dinner Specials Daily H i 1 Open 7 days a week 5j 1 1 Great family menu M J Breakfast served j H i 6 a.m.to 9 p.m. Ifj !
