Show Wednesday, April 2, 1997 A-11 The Park Record Personal Paragraphs Wright, Timmel to wed The Way We were What's in a name? t. . .."W-.Hif-i:; 'St;ir Ask a native Parkite or someone some-one who lives in lower Deer Valley how Queen Esther Drive got its name and you might be told that it was the name of an old silver mine located nearby. But why was the mine named Queen Esther? In 1912, the president of the mine and a part owner, Frank Hansen, named the mine in honor of his sister, Esther Hansen Beckstead. In his estimation she was a queen. There were great expectations for the mine, but it never lived up to its regal name, and exploratory work ceased in 1918. In 1974, the adjoining Park City Consolidated Mines Co. signed a Letter of Intent to acquire all of the shares of stock and 191 acres of Queen Esther Mining Co. Today the 657 acres of the combined mining companies has been, or soon will be, developed as a residential area. The fate of Esther Hansen Beckstead is unknown. 1 if--- 4 f J t .r ' Heather Wright and Kevin Timmel lk;itliLT I ce Wright. iLiiiuhlcr of Donna and Hob Wnghl of Park Cilv. is en paged to he married to Kem Matthew Timmel. son ol Kns and Jim I immel of Sandv. on June 14. 1 W7.
