Scouts will leave with residents throughout Summit County, bags for food to be donated to feed those in need in Summit County during the coming year. These bags will then be picked up the the scouts the following Saturday, November 18, 1989. Please help our scouts do a good turn by generously donating food for the cause. READY, SET, READ!!- is the slogan which exemplifies ex-emplifies the enthusiasm and energy generated by librarians and teachers for Children's Book Week every year in November. In Park City, serveral programs are planned to celebrate this annual event. Gloria Skurzyn-ski, Skurzyn-ski, noted children's author from Salt Lake City, will be visiting all day Monday, November 13th, at the Treasure Mountain Middle School. Dorothy Talbert, librarian and storyteller, from the Salt Lake County Library system, will be at Parley's Park on Tuesday. Mrs. Skurzynskis newest book is Dangerous Ground, an adventure, which Involves the reader in the Yellowstone National Park fire. These visits are sponsored by the Park City School District and the Park City Library. During Book Week, children are invited to drop by the Park City Library and help color the "Ready, Set, Read" mural, enter the Book Character contest and check out our display of the 1990 Utah Children's Book Award nominees. There are 20 nominees in the fiction category and 6 in the non-fiction. School children all over Utah will be reading these book and then voting for their favorite in April. WE ARE OFTEN ASKED IN PARK CITY TO DONATE money to the various good causes our community com-munity supports. On November 20, you'll have a chance to donate something other than money. Intermountain Health Care Blood Services will come to Park City High School to receive your "gift of life". Dontating blood is an easy, harmless process that only takes a few minutes to complete-time enough for you to help sustain the life of someone in need of your particular par-ticular blood type. IHC Blood Services is a non-profit organization that provides 86 percent of the blood and blood products required re-quired for patients in 36 Utah hospitals, to meet this requirement, re-quirement, 288 pints of blood must be collected each day amounting to more than 75,000 pints for the year. Your donation is important! Give the "gift of life" on Monday, November 20, from 4-8pm at the Park City High School. DISABLED SKI TEACHING CLINICS- The Park City Handicapped Sports Association will conduct instructorvolunteer instruc-torvolunteer training clinics in various techniques of disabled skiing, including 2-track, 3-track, 4-track, sit ski, mono ski, visually imparied and developmentally disabled. PRESCHOOL VISION SCREENING TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 17- A vision screening to identify children with amblyopia (Lazy Eye Blindness) will be held on November 17, 1989 at Summit City County Health Department from 1:30-3 :30pm for children 3 through 5 years of age. This clinic is free to the public and only takes a few minutes. Please plan to have your preschool child participate in this clinic and remind your friends and neighbors of this very important sight-saving program. pro-gram. Amblyopia is common but not obvious and must be identified early and promptly treated before serious visual loss will occur. For current weekend wilderness outing this fall, please VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!- Meet interesting people from around the world. Help them find their way around your town, tell them about its history and chat with them about where they live. It's fun and will keep you involved with the world community. Volunteers are needed every Sunday at the Park City MuseumVistor Information Center to work a three-hour three-hour shift, either noon to 3pm, or 3 to 6pm.
