Show They're here! Film fest is feast of screen gems The annual celebration ol celluloid is about to unreel in Park City. For the eighth year, independent filmmakers will have their week in the sun as Ihe United States Film Festival decants its bounty into the theaters of an enthusiastic mountain town. And the film cornucopia is richer (ban last year's. Thirty-five independent in-dependent films will compete in the narrative and documentary ategories. Nine premieres or special event showings will stud the affair, af-fair, including a screening of Woody Allen's latest feature and a painstakingly restored version of a Frank Capra classic. Film festival program director Tony Sal'ford traveled to Australia and brought back a package of 25 movies representative of that country's coun-try's energetic film culture. ' Nine seminars include a last minute addition: Sidney Lumet, in conjunction con-junction with the opening of his new movie. "Power," will discuss filmmaking film-making on the first weekend of the festival. It all begins to unreel in Park City on Saturday, Jan. 17, and it won't w md up until .Ian. 26.
