Readin’ in Eden The Readin’ in Eden reading group continues to meet monthly to share great reads and discuss selected titles. The group is a community reading group that meets on the third Thursday of the month, and will next meet on May 18 at 7:00 p.m. May’s book title is “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen. The book has been on the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestseller list; and was a Newsday Favorite Book of 2006, American Library Association Alex Award Winner, Entertainment Weekly Nominee for Best Novel, winner of the 2007 Bookbrowse Award for Most Popular Book, and Booksense #1 Pick for June, 2006. Entertainment Critic Book Review James Myers wrote, “I’ve read close to 100 books so far this year, and I have written reviews for many of those books. The publishers, when they send review copies to a reviewer, also send promotional material. I’m rarely surprised by the content that I read. Every once in a great while, something comes in from left field that you read, and re-read, and re-read again. Such a book that keeps you awake at night, in deep thought. It’s new, fresh and so original, that you have read nothing like it before, and probably will not again . . . I love this book!” Recently, each Readin’ in Eden participants each selected a different biography/ autobiography to read and share with the group. Some of their recommendations are listed below: “A Walk Across America” by Peter Jenkins “Plain and Simple” by Sue Bender “Zookeeper’s Wife” by Diane Ackerman “Are You Somebody: The Accidental Memoir of a Dublin Woman” by Nuala “Uncle Tungsten: Memories of a Chemical Boyhood” by Oliva Sacks “His Excellency” (biography of George Washington) by Joseph Ellis “Agatha Christie” Autobiography by Agatha Christie “The Dreams of My Father” Autobiography by Barack Obama “Muhammad: His Life Based on the Earliest Sources” by Martin Lings “Einstein” by Walter Isaacson “Reconciliation” by Benazir Bhutto “The Albert Schweitzer-Helene Brusslau Letters 1902 - 1912” edited by Rhena Schweitzer “Clarence Thomas, My Grandfather’s Son,” a Memoir by Clarence Thomas Wolf Creek Utah Announces Return of Music in the Mountains—Summer concert series runs June 28 - September 6 at Wolf Mountain Music in the Mountains, Wolf Creek Utah’s ing their entertainment affordable for all. summer concert series, will kick-off on Saturday, Admittance to concerts is enjoyed for only June 28 with musical guest Charley Jenkins. Kristen Wojciechowski, race director says, “We encourage the whole family to get involved in the marathon and to make fitness fun. We hope this event becomes part of the family’s healthy lifestyle, and is used as a learning tool to teach children healthy habits that will last a lifetime.” The finish line festival will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Ogden City Municipal Gardens. The GOAL Foundation, partnering with sponsors, local vendors, and the art community, will bring a full day of fun with live entertainment, food, and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Mathew Santos will perform that evening at 7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Department at Weber State University, the GOAL Foundation, and RAMP. Tickets for volunteers and registered runners are $5 and all others are an affordable $10. A successful event does not take place without the support from the community.
