Show Volume VI, Issue I THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 17 April 15, 2002 New School Opens In Ogden Valley A new school opened in Ogden Valley in January of this year. It’s called Noble Hall, and is a Kimber Academy. Chairpersons of the school’s board are Rod and Nina Blanchard of Huntsville. The private school is LDS based, and runs three days a week, four hours a day. Julie Rhodes, whose 14-year-old son Jordon attends Noble Hall states, “The thing that really makes me happy about this school is that the students are taught principles that help them to govern their own studies and their own learning. For instance, Jordan loves to read, and goes through books at the rate of about two per week. After this last round of testing, his English scores placed him at a College Freshman level. Because of this, we were able to place him in English 115 at BYU as an Independent Study Student. Jordan can complete his University Course during the time allotted at Noble Hall for his English studies.” Jr. Class Corresponds with States Across America In the Junior History Class students are gaining an appreciation for each of Americas 50 states. One of the fun activities they have been doing is writing to each state. Many students have received, “lots of really cool stuff” from the different states. Please encourage your students to continue to write. Addresses are given at the end of each day. The students will soon be studying Utah for three weeks. They are going to build an interactive map of Utah that will be on display at the Huntsville Library. If any parents are able to assist with this project, please contact Suzan Brown at 745-0501. Students of Noble Hall School. Noble Hall Junior Class Learning the Joys of Service Question: What does the State of Massachusetts, Operation Toy Box in Louisburg, North Carolina and Noble Hall Jr. Class from Huntsville, Utah have in common? Answer: A great service project that put smiles on the cherubic faces of those who give and those who receive. It all started with the history of the sewing machine by Elias Howe. Although there is much controversy over who really invented the first sewing machine, and in which state this marvelous invention was first introduced, it is commonly accepted that Elias Howe and the State of Massachusetts should receive the recognition. To honor the man and the machine, the students of Noble Hall from Huntsville sewed ‘Kid Kits’ to be distributed by Operation Toy Box, Inc. Operation Toy Box is a non-profit organization founded by 16 year old Christy Sanderson following Hurricane Marilyn in 1995. They have provided toys to 76,174 children effected by disasters. Noble Hall students are now numbered among the contributors Senior Class Officers Elected Noble Hall recently elected class officers for the school as follows: President: Kristel Smith 17, Liberty Vice Presidents: Trevor Blanchard 14, Huntsville McKel Middleton 13, Mountain Green Class Secretary: Colton McKay 13, Huntsville Student officers plan and conduct daily devotionals, plan activities, act as role models, provide teacher assistance in the class room, and represent Noble Hall as ambassadors.
