The company has also been provided with the opportunity to be the Official Ticketing Services Supplier for the U.S. Olympic Team and events in the future. Tickets.com (www.tickets.com) will provide exclusive ticketing services for the 2002 Games, including Internet, mail and telephone orders as well as the operation of local and regional ticket retail outlets in its agreement with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC). Tickets.com will also host the Internet ticket auctions on behalf of SLOC. In an agreement with the Olympic Properties of the United States (OPUS), a joint marketing effort between SLOC and the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), Tickets.com will also be an Official Supplier to the U.S. Olympic Team, supporting its participation in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia; the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City; and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. SLOC and Tickets.com will join forces to make the 2002 Games the first in Olympic Games history to offer real-time ordering of tickets over the Internet and online ticket auctions. After consumers register for tickets, a randomized selection process will be initiated to ensure that ticket distribution to the U.S. public is equitable. This distribution process will be enabled through Ticket.com’s proprietary online Virtual Wristband technology. The International Olympic committee (IOC) Executive Board approved SLOC’s ticketing plan in December 1999. Through their state-of-the-art ticketing software and Internet distribution capabilities, Tickets.com will help the Salt Lake Organizing Committee achieve the goal of providing a fair and equitable process of ticket distribution to the public, said Mitt Romney, SLOC President and CEO. We are particularly excited to be conducting Olympic tickets sales through the Internet, and for Tickets.com to be our official ticketing services supplier. The Internet continues to evolve as a powerful force in our global economy, said Dick Schultz, USOC Executive Director and OPUS President. We are proud to welcome Tickets.com, a company renowned for its leadership in the e-commerce industry, to the growing family of U.S. Olympic Team corporate supporters. We are honored to be the Official Ticketing Services Supplier of the 2002 Games and the U.S. Olympic Team, and are excited about utilizing the Web to create some online ticketing firsts in Olympic Games history, said W. Thomas Gimple, Tickets.com’s co-chairman & chief executive officer of Tickets.com, headquartered in Costa Mesa, California. The company sells tickets through the Internet, an interactive voice response system, telephone sales centers and retail stores. Tickets.com provides ticketing services to organizations worldwide including U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Latin America. SLOC anticipates approximately 800,000 Olympic tickets will be available for sale to the U.S. public, including Utah residents, commencing in the fall of 2000. An overview of Olympic sport ticket prices indicates 78 percent of all tickets will be priced less than $100, 50 percent of all tickets will be priced less than $60, and an average sport ticket price of $82 with prices ranging from $20-$425. SLOC anticipates more than 325,000 tickets will be available for the 2002 Paralympic Winter Games. Currently consumers can register with SLOC for more information on tickets by visiting the SLOC Web site at www.slc2002.org and clicking on Ticket Information. Tickets.com becomes the 10th OPUS supplier, joining Marriott International (lodging), Drake Beam Morin (career transition services), O.C. (exposition and event services). OPUS suppliers are companies that are providing SLOC and the USOC with specific goods and services for the Games and America’s Olympic Team. Overall, SLOC has 26 corporate participants to date for the 2002 Games, including suppliers and sponsors. 2002 Cultural Olympiad Accepting Applications For Community Heritage Invitational Grant Program The Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC), in partnership with the Utah Arts Council, is offering 30 grants of up to $3,000 each to community and arts organizations throughout the state. The Community Heritage Invitational grants must be used to stage a performance, exhibition or other event in individual Utah communities between January 29, 2002 and March 19, 2002. The Utah Arts Council will administer the program for the 2002 Cultural Olympiad. The grants must be matched on a one-to-one basis in cash or value-in-kind. Community organizations interested in applying for a grant should call the Utah Arts Council at (801) 236-7548. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 3, 2000. “This grant program gives every Utah community access to the Olympic celebration,” said Bonnie Stephens, Director of the Utah Arts Council. “The Utah Arts Council is delighted to partner with SLOC’s Cultural Olympiad in providing this opportunity.” The Community Heritage Invitational is one of many grant programs provided by the 2002 Cultural Olympiad. For example, the recently announced Cultural Olympiad On Tour program provided grants to museums throughout Utah to bring selected exhibitions to the state during the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Community Heritage Invitational cultural events should reflect the theme of the 2002 Cultural Olympiad which is to celebrate Utah, embrace the West and its cultures, and highlight America’s contribution to the arts and humanities. “This is another way that the community can participate in the 2002 Cultural Olympiad. A community for instance may join with its local arts organization to develop a folk music gathering or art exhibition,” said Raymond T. Grant, SLOC Director of Arts and Culture. “I hope that artists will collaborate with libraries, and schools with cultural centers to come up with imaginative programs that can be proudly presented during the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games as an integral part of the Cultural Olympiad.” COX MUSIC ACADEMY Unique combination of private lessons and music classes Voice, Piano and Instrumental Special preparations for recitals and competitions Cheryl Cox B.
