Show Page 4 THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume XI Issue V December 15, 2004 Tree of Remembrance Service to be Held Myers Mortuaries will host their annual Tree of Remembrance services and dedication on Sunday, December 19. Those wishing to decorate an ornament in memory ofa loved one may do so between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. through Saturday, December 18; and Sunday, December 19 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. The ornaments are free of charge Following the memorial service, the Tree of Remembrance will be dedicated and refreshments will be served Services will be held at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. at 5:00 p.m. The services are open to anyone wishing to attend. Eccles Community Art Center e Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden will be displaying juried works by the members of the Palette Club of Ogden in the Main Gallery during January. The Carriage House Gallery will feature the recent works of Reed Loveland. The Palette Club of Ogden is an organization dedicated to the arts. Its function is to foster community interest in art and encourage local artists and maintain these artists and craftsmen who have an understanding of the need to share in the work of the club. The Palette Club is comprised of over 50 locally producing artists and craftsmen. The Palette Club of Ogden meets the second Tuesday of each month at ARTSTOP. -members are welcome. For more information about this club and its meeting, please contact club president, Karen Wright at 801612-9482 Reed Loveland was born in Fish Haven, Idaho, and grew up in Ogden, Utah. graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1965. After completing a tour of duty in Vietnam he enrolled at Weber State University. He graduated from WSU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972 then attended Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angles, where he received a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in 1976. While at Otis, he received a Ford Foundation Grant and the Friends of Otis Scholarship. In Los Angles he worked for Sydney M. Cobb Design, Hollywood and Chancellor-Randolph as a textile designer. He has taught in the Davis County school district for the past 26 years and is currently the Art Department Chair at Northridge High School. Reed says of his art, “I am interested in the creative process of making art. The challenge and fun of generating ideas, handling materials, and solving problems is, for me, the best part of my creative existence. Often Iam disappointed when a drawing is finished because the process seems to stop momentarily. But then the tension begins to build and another idea begins te _develop and the process starts over again.” Please join us for an opening reception for these exhibits on Friday, January 7 from 7:0 to 9:00 p.m. The general public is invited. The exhibits will remain on display through January 27. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and major holidays. Debra Wilson Snowbasin Home to Australia’s Women’s Aerial Ski Team Snowbasin—A Sun Valley Resort is pleased to announce that Snowbasin is the North American Home Resort to the Australian Women’s Aerial Ski Team, also known as “The Flying Kangaroos.” The team comes to Snowbasin from the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia located in Melbourne. The team of young women consists of two squads, the 2006 Squad and the 2010 Squad. Among those members of the team are 2002 Gold Medallist Alisa Camplin, three time World Champion Jacqui Cooper, and current Worl Champion Lydia Lerodiaconou.
