Two or three more were transplanted the next year. “Tt has turned into a pretty good goat herd,” Hodson stated. This year Wildlife Resources counted 100 goats from the North Ogden Divide to Brigham City. Brent uffmann, manager of the Ultimate Ungulate Page stated, “There is a lot of controversy regarding the introduction of the oreamnos americanus species of goat to Utah fueled, in part, by the fact that a different species of mountain goat (oreamnos plea is known to have lived here in e past, ich confuses the issue as to whether the eae Rocky Mountain goat did or didn There have been previous sightings of goats in Ogden Canyon before this one, the for attention this fall. But Hodson doesn’t believe the goats are taking up residence in the canyon because the sightings are not frequent enough. Goats are in the high Uintahs, on Tusher Mountain in Beaver, and at Mt.Timpanogas and Lone Peak canyons on the southeast side of Salt Lake City. When asked if the thick hair on this animal meant we were going to have a heavy winter, Hodson replied that the animal’s thick fur was a natural occurrence helping the goats to survive in the high country where they are normally found. “They are ‘cool’ to have around.” Hodson stated. Crook stated that about 50 to 60 people stopped and got out of their cars to gaze at the Rocky Mountain goat in the hour he was there. The goat and many spectators could still be seen by late Saturday afternoon. “I got skunked fishing,” Mike said, “but to see this old animal walking down the mountain made the trip worthwhile.” The next OVBA Monthly General Meeting will be held at the The Ogden Valley Eres School 5460 East 2200 North, GDEN \ VALLE OsD" ess Association Y ERR EEEEESEEES November Eden 10, 2004 = 7 p.m. Visit wwe en VOTE FOR YOUR REALTOR 940-4040 COLDWGLL Innovative Local Real Estate ¢ ¢ * ¢ Residential Properties » Land * New Construction Property Management « Investments No Money Down Purchases Featured Realtor.com Listings FREE Season Pass to POWDER MOUNTAIN Or CASH equivalent upon closing of home sale with me in Ogden Valley Initial consultation and market analysis are always free oe Comprehensive property research No transaction fees Call 801-824-0424 oe RE Associated Realtors orthodontics FOR RENT: Gorgeous executive home on golf course. 3 BD, 3 BA. $1,850/month.
