Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 6 Volume XI Issue II November 1, 2004 Announcements Births Obituaries Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Lamphier Ryan and Gabrielle Meads announce the birth of Johnathan October 5, 2004, at William Meads, born 11:14 p.m. Johnathan weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces at birth, and was 20 1/2 inches in length. Birthdays Shaw Norma Allred Shaw celebrated her 80th birthday on October 5 with a family party and will further celebrate with her children and their spouses on a cruise to the Caribbean in late October. She was born October 5, 1924 in Coltman, Idaho to Juston P. and Isabell R. Allred. She lived in Osgood, Idaho until her graduation from high school. She then moved to Liberty with her family where she met her husband. She married Vernon Shaw on October 24, 1943. Their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1949. They lived in Liberty and Morgan, and currently reside in Roy. They spent many winters at their home in St. George and have traveled many miles in their motor home. They have traveled to many places and made many friends. She has held various positions in the LDS Church and is currently a member of the Sandridge LDS Ward. Their children and their spouses are Kathryn and Doug Seamons, Ogden; Jeff and Rosanne Shaw, Bountiful; Pat Hodgson, Ogden; Pam and John Atwood, Brad and Cindy Shaw, Morgan; and Morgan. They have 17 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren. She died at home where many family members, friends, and neighbors had visited her in her final weeks of pancreatic cancer. A daughter of James LeRoy Fackrell and Thirza McBride Fackrell, Virginia was born April 22, 1918 in Eden, Utah. She was the seventh of eleven children. She graduated from Weber County High School and continued her education at BYU. She received a B.S. Degree in Communications with an emphasis on Journalism. Her minor was in Sociology and Social Work. Virginia was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many auxiliaries in her lifetime: Sunday School, Young Women, Relief Society, and as a hostess at Temple Square. Early in life she served a six-month mission in Turkey to Americans who were stationed at the Military Base there. In February 1987 she served a yearlong mission to the Washington, D.C. Temple. Virginia worked as an assistant to the Agriculture Attache in the foreign service from 1959-1964; living in the Belgian Congo, Turkey, Indonesia, and Switzerland. She held several jobs locally, until 1974 when she worked as an editor in the Curriculum Department of the Church until her retirement in 1986. She also loved to help the youth of her community. She volunteered at the Salt Lake County Detention Center and provided years of research to the Utah Youth Village. She spent her spare time avidly watching sports, opera, and ballet; and enjoying the symphony. Virginia is survived by her brother Lynn J. Fackrell (Ethel), Hondo, Texas; 26 nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, one niece, and two nephews. uneral services were held October 15, 2004 at the 18th No. Ward Chapel (20th Ward Building) located in Salt Lake City. Ernest Bell was 1911 Pat whom Froerer (Robert, deceased) Huntsville, Utah; and Marie and Gail Miles, South Ogden, Utah. Funeral services were held October 13, 2004 in the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center. Interment, Wellsville City Cemetery. 7, 1974 Dustin in Ogden, was more than a Grandma, she was a friend. Dustin loved being outdoors, riding mountain bikes, and hanging out with his cronies. He was an extensive traveler and a certified scuba diver. Dustin had always enjoyed attending school and was preparing to graduate with a bachelors degree from Weber State University. He was employed with Delta Airlines, Union Pacific Railroad, and was a plant manager at Cole Vision. He shared a special relationship with his Dad and brothers whom he always provided council to. Dustin you are my best friend and I will miss you every day, minute and second of my life. I love you! He is survived by Mom, Dad and brothers; Lori Ann Bell, Marlon and Beth Bell, brothers Matt Bell, Hazen Bell, Bryton Bell; sister-in-law Melanie Otterstrom, 31, passed away Friday, October 8, 2004 at her home surrounded by fam- ily and loved ones. She was born November 10, 1972 in Port Royal, South Carolina to Craig and Rae Jean Covington Page. She married Richard C. Otterstrom, August 3, 1991, in Ogden.Melanie graduated from Roy High School in 1991, the College of the Redwoods, in California in 1996 as a dental assistant, and Weber State University in 2001, as a dental hygienist. She worked as a dental hygienist at the Clearfield Dental Care with Dr. Brad Salmon.She enjoyed playing with her daughters, boating, wake/snow boarding, scrapbooking, and geocaching. She is survived by her husband Richard; two daughters, Kyann and Isobel; her parents, Craig and Julie Page, Syracuse and Rae Jean Conner, Illinois; father and mother-in-law, Allen and Carol Otterstrom, Sacramento, California; grandparents Merle and Doris Page, Clearfield; Bob and Marilyn Covington, Riverdale; Larry and Barbara Redden, S. You have always been a pillar of strength for your family and friends. Dustin, we will miss you and every thing about you. Dustin, your life was short here on earth, but you will always be close in our hearts. Dustin has always cared for others rather than for himself; a trait he acquired from his mother. Dustin always had a special relationship with his mother and loved her dearly. Dustin, Avery will miss asking if she can go to see Uncle Dutin, just as we all will.
