Democratic Candidate Mike and his wife rlene are lifelong residents of eber County. Mike is a graduate of Ogden High School and Weber State University. For ten years he taught Social Studies at Ben om High School, where he also served as the debate coach. He has an impressive educational background with degrees in both Economics and Public Administration coupled with a record of public service, making him uniquely qualified for the job of Weber County commissioner. They have an innate sense of honor, that Hamilton thought an elite aristocracy should run the government while Jefferson had faith in the people—that they could govern themselves and appoint faithful managers of the public trust for the day to day dealings. I believe Jefferson was right campaign motto is “To be a representative ‘of the people, by the people, and for the people.” My purpose, if I should be elected, is to be “A voice for the people, not the party and other special interests.” Weber County has many pressing issues, but the answers lie with the people. I have said it elsewhere: experts have know-how, but they see things from only one perspective—their own. Individual residents see things from all different perspectives and if their input is properly gathered, sorted, and used, no detail will escape notice and the solution will not result in another problem.
